Sunlight through the eye of the needle points the way?

Howdy Howdy,

New to the sight but not entirely new to the subject matter contained within...

Anyway,

Question is, has anyone ever heard of a theory that at certain times and dates, a beam of sunlight broken by the peak of the needle will cast through the eye? The spot it hits on the ground is to be the entrance to a mine?

I know of at least one person that claims to have used this method and actually discovered an old abandoned shaft that had been artificially filled in, and was not part of any recorded claim.
This site was later seized by the Govt, and chain link fenced in with signs and such denying entry.

Later this mine was reported to have been considerably widened for a time, and then filled in and covered over. Although noone claims to have seen anyone actually working the mine at any time.

This was based somewhere is the 70's, before my time I'm afraid...

Just wondering of the possibility of facts to this claim.

You got me....I have heard variations on this theme to a degree, but not quite like this. Hopefully someone will have something to add.

Welcome to the LDM Forum.

One of the best things to do when researching a "clue" like this, IMHO, is to try and determine who first mentioned it. That may cause you to give more or less weight to the clue.

I would need to look into my material, but it sounds like something that Oren Arnold, Barney Barnard or Barry Storm might write.

Anyone know who was the first?

Ranger and Randy,

You will find any number of prospects/holes in the Superstitions. One that comes to mind is on the back side of Black Top Mesa. There is an "eye" that you can look through, and someone started a shaft at the point you can see looking through it to the north......Just another empty hole in the Supes.

It was many years ago that I saw it, but imagine it is still there. The greenies would put a fence around something if they decided it was dangerous, and would likely fill it in at some point.

That's opinion, so I could be wrong.

The Supes, like the night, has a thousand "eyes".

Well, I heard this from my father, who was at one time an amateur prospector, as well as many other things.

He's deceased now, so working from memory mostly, though my mom confirms that he and some friends did indeed find a shaft that they got all excited about but she doesn't know much more about it...damn women..

Anyway...

I was taken to the spot when I was about 9 or so...1988ish and was indeed shown a depression in the Mountain side, which was told to be the remnants of the dig, and told the story. Being so young, simply describing the drive from Apache Junction to the parking area is about all the detail I can remember of the area at the moment...damn kids...

Well, anyway, the reason that I am so interested in this is the fact that my father was a internationally renowned private investigator. Having worked many high profile cases to conclusion, such as Apple Piracy networks, Zodiac Killer, and many cases involving celebs and Porn stars...

So, this gives him the credibility and the mindset to pursue such things as old Jake's stash in his spare time. So, he and some of his associates, also in related fields of study, began to spend some serious money and time following up all the old clues that we all know so well.

He also had a pilots license and a little cessna that the crew would bounce back and forth from California to the Supes whenever possible.

So, again no new info, no location to base it off...just that it was Miners needle I'm pretty sure that had the "eye" and something to do with Jake's timeline and weather patterns. He did mention something about an earthquake i think that altered some trailmarkers or something, but we was sure convinced that he found somethin...was just trying to dig up some history...pun intended...

Is it possible that this clue is even more cryptic than at face value? What better way to throw searchers off the trail than to mention the miner's needle and then mention the needles eye? Perhaps these two are not the same thing. Could anyone be that sneaky?

Was someone yet again using the Bible to set forth an enigmatic clue to a treasure location?

Joe may be right about Barry Storm. In the 1949 Movie "Lust for Gold", based loosely on Barry Storms book "Thunder God's Gold", Miguel Peralta finds the mine by following the moonlight through the eye of the needle. Although I don't think there is a mention of it in "Thunder God's Gold".
