82 Pound Gold Bar Cache Found

Post by Mike McChesney »

I have had this story for some time now, as I was intending for it to go into a magazine I was working on publishing. Due to some obstacles beyond my control, the mag never saw the light of day.

I think this is one of those stories that really needs to be retold as it is one of the very few I actually believe is legitimate:

Neat story Mike - One of the things that makes it more believable to me is the $ amount of what was found. While $500,000 is nothing to sneez at, neither is it the millions that some folks claim they've found.

I wonder what the value of those bars would have been from a historical standpoint as opposed to just the precious metal value?

Thanks for posting it.

Well, judging by the Atocha relics, I believe they put the historical value of the gold at 20X spot (I may be off on that because I'm strictly going from memory).
