Re: JIM HATT

Glad I had an opportunity to hike with him last fall one time and meet him in person. He certainly fit the profile of one of "Coronado's Children," and his passing leaves yet another hole in the history of the Superstitions and Lost Dutchman Mine. Rest in peace and my condolences to his wi...

Re: CALALUS

Thanks PWP - good reminder for me to check and doublecheck the weather forecasts for my trip. I always bring along long underwear out there - especially after my camping trip to Reavis Ranch a couple years ago when I darn near froze trying to sleep on the ground.

Re: CALALUS

Paul, I just received some information today, and it looks like Jack and Bernice pointed the way into the Superstition Mountains for the Calalus migration theories. It seems probable that the Bent's believed in the authenticity of the Tucson Artifacts, and had that idea bolstered by the few profess...

NP Wayne - anyplace I haven't seen yet is good with me. Depending on what other plans I end up putting together I may be able to go with you Sunday - I have such a short time to visit and am trying to pack in so many different things - not sure what I will or won't be able to do, but I'll try.

I've never been a student of astronomy Ben unfortunately. I'll have a lot of extra work to do to get up to speed enough to make sense of stars, planets and their positions in the sky - not to mention what their appearance looked like many years ago. Not to say I won't look into it and try to figure ...

Hello Paul, You are correct. Good catch. Long day. The mind not mine is a terrible thing to lose. :D Klondike is in the field right now. I am rather tied down for the moment. Ben No problem - just wanted to make sure I was remembering correctly since West Boulder is one of the places I want to expl...

Paul, When I read that, my only thought was......There is no mine in Little Boulder Canyon. On the other hand, I know about the mine on the east side of West Boulder Canyon. Maybe you will find it. Ernie has brought up another project that you may find of interest. Take care, Joe Shoot me an e-mail...

If the mine in Little Boulder Canyon had been opened and the adit containing symbology of Oz had been discovered. If the Gold there had never been found. IF klondike`s family had not bought those 800+ gold bars. Deputy Dawg and the Saint. Quite the circle of folks. Klondike - I thought the mine in ...

Joe - thanks. I'm not sure if you sent it to me or if I got it from JSTOR myself, but I do have that Journal article about Emil Haury. As far as Fell goes, I suppose as the founding editor of the ESOP journals he would definitely qualify as someone with at least a bit of a predisposition and possibl...

No no Oro - I didn't mean it to sound that way. Heck, I have 3 different detectors I use and could give all sorts of recommendations as well, but at least in my opinion it's a good idea to get as much input as possible before making a decision. Finds treasure hunting forum has so much information th...

Re: Looking to buy metal detector..

This probably isn't the best forum to look for lots of advice on purchasing a detector. If I were you, I would go to the forum I linked below and you'll see plenty of different topic threads (some for specific detector brands) where you can ask your questions and get lots more feedback. Some informa...

Thanks Joe - bring it along if you think of it, but don't make it a huge priority. Joe, I'm getting one to read via interlibrary loan so I shouldn't have to borrow yours. I appreciate the offer, but I'd always be really worried that something would happen to it. I'm going to keep watching Ebay and might check some used bookstores down in Boston just on the off chance that someone ...

Why is this book so expensive?

I've been watching for a good deal on "Al Sieber - Chief of Scouts" by Dan Thrapp, but it's ridiculously expensive usually selling for $100 - $300+. The publisher is/was the University of Oklahoma Press with (I believe) an first edition printing in 1964 and a reprint in 1995. All I can thi...

Oz should have been destroyed 10 years ago. Perhaps it should have been - That way I would never have heard about it and invested myself in it as much as I did. Joe - agreed. It really bugs me whenever I hear news stories about how someone gets accidentally shot while someone else is cleaning a gun.
