Re: THE GENUINE STONE MAPS

I missed copying the two quotes referring to the trade restrictions. They should have appeared ahead of the quote in my last post, which was meant to show that the "Secular Church" ,and I presume the Pope as well, had some dispute with the way the Jesuits were operating. From the chapter tit...

Re: THE GENUINE STONE MAPS

Joe: The question you have asked relates to the circumstances of the expulsion, rather than the historical activities of the Jesuits as noted by Azmula. The answer to which we three all know. For those who may not, these two references should give some explanation: http://sites.maxwell.syr.edu/clag/yea...

Re: The Lost Dutchman Mine: Does it exist?

Jalidi: If you adjust the slide to between 5-6 pm,it will give a better indication of sunset shadow during the nov-mar period when JW probably spent time out there. Twenty years should give you plenty of time to filter what information is and will be available.Heck,it might still be there when you f...

Re: THE GENUINE STONE MAPS

Azmula: That the Jesuits were among those involved,I have no doubt whatsoever. I suspect they had also been, for some time, overstepping the authorization granted to them..."orders" if you will...by the Church of Rome,in matters both spiritual and commercial. In doing so they may have become...

The comment was really meant for Azmula, but thanks for your input.

Re: THE GENUINE STONE MAPS

Azmula: Although I do disagree with your conclusions regarding the H/P Stone,I will certainly concede that what has long been assumed to be a trail...the dotted line...may in fact not be a "trail" at all.I have several reasons both theoretical and practical for this more recent line of rea...

Re: The Lost Dutchman Mine: Does it exist?

jalidi: Your first post shows wisdom well beyond your level of experience. Especially your comment regarding Google Earth. :) G/E is no substitute for being there !! Much of what you see on G/E is impassable,as are most of the "treasure trails" proposed by G/E hikers. I too, believe that di...

Pip: TB was likely several things.A waypoint,a rendezvous location and a headquarters/work camp. Maybe not all at the same time, but with wood and water and Pima veggies nearby, the logistics make sense.Lots of mineral rich mountains in several directions as well, including the areas and mines you ment...

The Shadow Wolves have been busy for some time. I wonder what will be said by the media in Arizona ? Re: The Stone Maps

Pip: While the peak or top of the ridgeline might be a good place for an observation post,I would think that a location on the flats, closer to Queen Creek and water, would be more likely to have any ruins of a visita.A map from 1747 shows a visita ...St.Fernando...near by the confluence of the San P...

Pip: It would be nice to know more about the history of the area. An old military map of 1850 shows an "Indian" trail from Maricopa Wells passing through and entering the Sups.On that map,it passes through a valley called "Mission Valley".Could this be a former name for the Queen...

Re: The Stone Maps

I don't have a problem with the probability that the H/P Stone was made by a different set of hands. For me,it makes sense that this would have been the case, and the timeline which I have been working with would have made it impossible for a single person to carve all of the various stones.Or even to...

Pip: Yes,a visit to the discovery site is a must for those who might see the story as mostly true. Randy:
A complete (whole) horse is what appears on the Horse/Priest Stone Map.
A horse head (only) is shown on a couple of the LDM maps.
Some folks seem to confuse the two.

Re: The Stone Maps

Roy: The lack of a "Prominent" identifier is exactly the problem. Without the existence of a standalone Christogram, such as IHS/JHS or of the acronym OFM,it is impossible to credit any particular person or group with the creation of the stones. As letters incorporated within the carvings,an...
