Yes, well spoken. Insincere words spoken well have a hollow ring, though. Wiz, You know I have trouble with the large words you use. If you keep them around three or four letters, I should have no problems. :) Doubtful. "Now, suddenly", You want to warn me that someone might cause trouble....

Unbelievable. I speak plain, simple english, and he hears something completely different. A monkey wrench! If my word of caution causes a monkey wrench to be thrown into this trip, you shouldn't be out camping in the first place. And if you read everything as foolishly as you have read my messages, ...

Hi Mr. B, and welcome The Superstition Mountain Museum has some good maps (the Beartooth map is a must-have). Wide World of Maps has all the topo maps for the Superstitions (there are 8 of them). The Phoenix Library on McDowell has a copy of the Stirrat map that has some of the old trails marked tha...

A friend and I found a claim marker in a shallow cave on the top northwest slope of the mountain a few years ago. Can't recall off the top of my head what the name of the claim was. We were travelling fast and didn't spend a lot of time looking for the dig, if there even is one. As it turns out we w...

Hello Dr. Glover, You didn't specify LDM, but rather "lost mines attributed Jacob Waltz". I'm not near my references so I can't check, but would one of them be in the Bradshaws? My memory is undoubtedly faulty, but I think he had the General Grant mine, whose location is now unknown. Then,...

S.C., There are also the possibilities that Julia's claim against Dick Holmes was not given a fair hearing because A) she was a black woman. This may have been a liability for her, given the times; B) she was known to be eccentric, with all the powder-burning and strange pseudo-religious activity. T...

Wiz, When you say: "... there's only one day between being 28 and 29." How do you mean that as it applies to the discussion? Dr. G, Much as I hate agreeing with Joe on anything, he is correct as to my meaning. Waltz could have turned 29 the following week, which would put his birth back i...

The Ville De Lyon Jacob Waltz has also been checked into by several over the years and is possibility, but the years don’t match exactly. I wonder what it is about the Superstitions that elicit these kinds of stories? Maybe just the name. Are these people nuts, or is there really something there? It's funny that two different accounts have the staircase going deep into the earth. Following the path of Arne Saknussum, undoubtedly. Ron ...

This should be a whole topic in itself!

Aurum, what you describe sounds a lot like the Bushido of the Samurai. It's interesting that this same sort of philosophy should surface in such disparate cultures. The main link seems to be that both were among the mightiest warriors ever known.

Gene,
We're all sorry to see you go and will miss you. If I'm not out of line, may I ask why you have to unplug the computer after April 31? If you're moving from Georgia, couldn't you rejoin us from wherever you're going?
Either way, Godspeed to you. And thank you for the great book.

It does not put anyone closer to the location of the LDM. It provides nothing in the way of verification of the fact that Jac...
