Re: LOST OR.....FOUND?

Mike, In 1999, the people who worked the Pit Mine received some big checks from.......someone. I was sitting next to one of them when he received a phone call. He asked if .......had received his check also. The answer was yes. The result of the call was a big :) Perhaps Chuck was the buyer. Take c...

Re: LOST OR.....FOUND?

The Treasure Trove site - located near Roger's Spring is about a 15-20 minute hike from the trailhead mostly along the trail. Not a difficult to reach spot at all.

Re: LOST OR.....FOUND?

Cubby, Actually, you made my point for me. If there WAS NOTHING at the HEAT Site, then that would be a great way to legitimize anything they dug up several years earlier at the "Pit Mine" Site. Say you have all this gold from an illegal dig. You have to hide the sale from Uncle Obama (not...

Re: LOST OR.....FOUND?

The Feldman Treasure Trove site isn't a difficult location at all to get to Mike, and I never heard any stories or rumors about any cache's being located nearby. Most folks I've listened to talk about the Treasure Trove location believe it was just a spring location that had been built up years ago ...

Well, I don't understand that at all - from some of the crap that's been posted over there lately, it doesn't make sense to ban a person for what you posted. Your "attack" was hardly an attack - heck, I can randomly find posts by that Charlie Brown guy accusing people of all sorts of stuff...

PWP - sounds like you hit "gold" :) I would have spent a bunch of time picking through all the native american books - in fact, maybe have offered him a flat fee for everything!

Re: Surely Obama will have something to say about this right

Joe - every large company I've worked for and every one my friends have worked for do the same thing with spending their entire budget whether they need stuff or not. It's that game of "use it or lose it" that's played every single year. I've never understood that concept and never met any...

Re: Bill Martin

I know this is a few years later but I was researching some stuff about my grandfather Bill Martin and ran across this forum. I am glad you got the chance to speak with Bill. I could sit there for hours and listen to his stories and all his adventures on the ranch. Whenever I rode with him I knew w...

Re: Almost buried alive

Hehe - silly me, I assumed catharsis and cathartic were pretty much one in the same. I guess catharsis is more of an "emotional cleansing" whereas cathartic is.... well... a little more physical :D

Sorry for the mistake

Re: Almost buried alive

Being a scientist and researcher by nature and training, it always pains me to hear of the loss of any sort of historical documentation - whether it's deemed worthy by others or not. That said, if it provided you with some cathartic release, in the long run that's probably more important. Regards, P...

Re: THE GENUINE STONE MAPS

Paul: Well then.If you happen to stumble over an old gold bar somewhere out there,it musta fallen out of my pocket....ok ? I agree with keeping quiet about finding "treasures". But the hunt itself is what we all love to share, and the experiences which make us compadres. After all,it's wha...

Re: THE GENUINE STONE MAPS

Paul, You are probably correct. Hope all is well, Joe Heck, I don't really know - it's just my opinion is all. Put it this way - if I put myself in the shoes of a finder, other than my spouse I would be hard pressed to find a reason to tell anyone else. I think what gets so many finder's in trouble...

Re: THE GENUINE STONE MAPS

In the ever increasing litigious society we find ourselves in, I don't think it would matter whether one found a treasure on their own personal property or not - once you go public with it, there's bound to be SOMEONE SOMEWHERE who's going to try for a piece of that pie. The finder will pay $ to def...

Re: THE GENUINE STONE MAPS

Joe: True. IF they HAD been found on their own property ! But to make such a claim this late in the game,on top of other recent claims by family members, does seem to suggest a trend toward historical revisionism. What about all that previous, well documented testimony from those who knew Travis, and ...

Welcome - there is a wealth of information here and in the archives, but there's plenty of misdirection and other "chaff" to sort through to find the nuggets of truth. It could take months (if not years) to sort through all the posts, follow them, then put them in context and finally go ba...

I don't mean to sound rude, but you're asking a lot of questions that you could find answers for just by doing searches online :). It's the desert and it's a Wilderness area - yes there are rattlesnakes, yes there are scorpions, yes there are tarantulas, yes there are bees and yes there are mountain...

Hello Mitchell and welcome. For what it's worth, what is impressive is not the sheer size of the Superstition Wilderness, it's the ruggedness! One visit exploring off the trails is enough to convince a person that if Waltz (or anyone for that matter) did even a reasonable job covering up a mine shaf...

I'd join in, but in the new USA there's no telling who's monitoring what's being said and how it will be used against you and your family in the future.
