Re: arizona senators
I agree with everything but the "tramp" comment. All it takes is one unsafe and thoughtless act like she did to provide fodder for those folks who want to remove firearms from everyone. What she did should disallow her from owning a firearm imho as she proved she doesn't know how to handle...

Re: Travis Tumlinson and the Stone Maps
Evidence when it comes to the Stone Maps as well as many things associated with the LDM more often than not comes down to the same thing.... "Evidence is in the eyes of the beholder." What one person believes is strong evidence of something another person views as skewed, etc... I'm not sa...

Re: Travis Tumlinson and the Stone Maps
Larry - I think with those Google previews, it's random which pages will actually be shown each time you visit. My preview left off all the pages after 80. This may be one of those cases where getting a copy from the library and scanning the photos may be worthwhile. If you want, I'll give it a shot...

Re: Travis Tumlinson and the Stone Maps
Joe: My suspicion persists, given the evidence that very good copies of the stones were made....most likely using both machjne-dressed stone obtained in Arizona as well as tooling available at the time....that the stones presented to and analyzed by DA and Polzer were not the stones that we see in t...

Joe, not trying to be a pain in the rear here, but I interpretted your statement of... I believe that Bob Tumlinson wrote that Travis was "crazy to sell his maps". In this case, I take "crazy" to mean, intensely enthusiastic. It would seem that "someone" at least hinted...

Re: Travis Tumlinson and the Stone Maps
Beth, Are you REALLY lumping Travis Tumlinson in with the likes of Crazy Jake? That might be a bit of a mistake there. Cubfan, Unless Janie or some other relative has a picture older, the pics from the Life Magazine Article of 1964 are the oldest. Mike I think the Jake analogy is a bit of a stretch...

Re: Travis Tumlinson and the Stone Maps
I believe this has been asked and maybe even answered several times in the past, but I can't find the answer right now, so I'm asking it again. What is the timeframe of the EARLIEST KNOWN photograph of the Priest/Horse stone?

Re: Travis Tumlinson and the Stone Maps
I wonder if the possibility exists that one or more of the "stone maps" were truly discovered somewhere and that Travis only created one or two of the others for another purpose - be it to confuse/mislead other treasure hunters, amusement or other reason. If that were the case, what Jane t...

Re: Travis Tumlinson and the Stone Maps
Alan, I know your post was directed to Joe, but I wanted to toss my $0.02 into the mix. I think the research Garry has done/is doing regarding tracing the history of the Stone Maps has a lot of merit. In my opinion, the more factual and documented the history of them becomes, the easier it is to try...

Nice photos Joe - is that Josh Feldman sitting across from Bob Corbin? He looks too young to be Jesse but otherwise he's the spitting image of him.

Re: Travel Channel Show on Superstition Mountain area
Larry - got to watch and record the episode tonight. It was good to see Clay again and get a glance at his mine - I honestly didn't know it was an open pit mine! The sections about the Roosevelt Dam and the missile silo was pretty cool too - I kept telling my wife that a missile silo basement would ...

Hi Alan, It is hoped that you have been able to review the site. Other than the Bulldog, no other reasonable geologic possibilities are known to have been presented by others. Yes, there is a mountain of anecdotal evidence, and too many pieces fit together that indicate there was a large mine, not ...

Re: Travel Channel Show on Superstition Mountain area
I missed it Larry, and it sounds like it would have been worth seeing. I was hoping to see if I could ever get a chance for a short "tour" of the Wasp from Clay and/or the Silver King from Jack one of these days. I wonder if the Travel Channel will replay the episode at all soon? I'll have...

PWP - for what it's worth, it seems as though you're reading more into Randy's comments than he was saying. Randy - I'll bet any money that Greg has a copy of that magazine. It would be interesting to try to take a "current" photo that matches the angle and location as best as possible. In...

Re: What REALLY happened to Adolph Ruth?
To me, the simplest answer is that he died of natural causes trying to get someplace that he wasn't really that well prepared or fit to get to. Maybe his body was moved afterwards by someone, maybe things were moved by animals. I guess I'm not in on what the rumor is that's been danced around for aw...

Re: What REALLY happened to Adolph Ruth?
PWP - I think you're mistaking Adolph Ruth for Erwin. Adolph Ruth was done working for the government by 1923/1924 and as far as I can remember, he was a meat inspector, not a field work guy. It sounds like you're implying Tex's wife was in on some plot to get Adolph out of the way because of some f...

Re: What REALLY happened to Adolph Ruth?
Thanks Larry and Garry both. The newspaper story I was pretty sure I remembered was the one where Morse notified the Sheriff. I vaguely even remembered the other ones. There's definitely a tie-in with the Morse family here in one way or another. I believe at one point Tom Kollenborn hoped to find so...
