Joe I am not too sure where my dramatic "veiled threat to stay out of the entire range" came from. My apologies. Seems that discussing the non-corporeal (and I specifically defined NON-CORPOREAL in my post because I knew you would get yourself worked up into hysterics) world has made you b...

>>NOW PETER; If you really believe that clap trap about indians being afraid of some big curse from showing a white man a mine, YOU are hurting. An indian would more likely tobe afraid of some hate monger dropping some poison into his coffee or a shot in the dark than any curse.<< I am somewhat reli...

Folks,

Actually, over the last couple of weeks there seems to have been a jailbreak at the local nuthouse..and they seem to have made a beeline to this forum. Best to just put them on IGNORE. Silence is usually the best way to handle this.

Sorry Bill, I will have to pass. I am of the time-honored opinion that no Indeh (that indeed knew where a "mine" was located) would show an Indah (no matter how friendly) a "mine".

Bill711, Busca is a Spanish word. Roughly translated it means "good ahead and look", or "search there". It's connotation almost always has to do with looking/searching for something. There are several tales out in LDM-land that tell of Amerindians bringing an Anglo friend near th...

Bill711, Ah, but you left out the most important fact...Once "Jim" gets to the mine area (quivering in fear no doubt because he is now "cursed"), looks across the "big canyon" and points..does he or does he not croak out the word "BUSCA!"...all the while point...

I did not "poo-poo" anything. I simply pointed out that the main elements in the story you told and the Thorne tale were remarkably similar.

The last of the Bronco Apache may have lingered as long as the mid-1930s in the Sierra Madres.

I have enough problems trying to unravel the tangled ball of twine that is The Dutchman. I think I will take a pass on the Tayopa subject.......

Roger, I think your 75' by 75' dimensions are off a tad. I have seen the "75 feet" clue in a couple of places, but I believe it refers to TWO SHAFTS that were 75' DISTANCE from each other. I imagine a 6x12 ( or 6x or 20 or 30) is more like it. Still, think of the effort just trying to dig ...

Aurum, Thanks for the info. I have run into this Oscar Hutton fellow before. Seems that Oscar was a ferocious Indian fighter. One story I came across had him and a fellow "citizen" chase a group of Chokonnen purported to be lead by Cochise himself, down in the San Pedro Valley. Course it h...

Now that would be something.

Folks, Since we are Merry Christmasing each other, I'd like to add an observation. Having recently returned home from a short trip to AZ I noticed a marked and welcome (from my point of view)difference in NY and AZ holiday greetings. In NY folks in stores and such wish one a "Happy Holiday"...
