Dutchman gold/massacre grounds

Joe, I might try and clear up some ststements before they become mucked up. You can find traces of gold and other minerals all over the mouintains. Actually one can find gold probaly in the water out there. I've assayed about a thousand specimens and found traces and abit more in alot of it, but if ...

S.C. I guess I should jump in here, to answer something on Chuck Lewing. So I'll tell of my personal experiences with him. I first met him while working with Crazy Jake, about 1966. He was also with Jake, and when I arrived he had just shot himself in the leg by accident and had to be taken out of t...

fish map

I recieved my copy of the Fish Map from Al Reser. It , I think is of the original. I used it once and I found myself in the Sierra Anchas. Everything was there on the map . But we all know all the maps can take you wherever you want to go.

Joe,

In answer to your question. I think the thing I hold most on to in the information, clues etc., is the existence of the ore and the comparisons that have been done, and I will mention that ,also will be done on some new ore in the future.

I have heard them also, and they are always from the Peters area,What I have been told by geologists is that it is a fault which runs through that area that shifts and displaces itself.

Dutchman Gold/ massacre grounds

If that were a main Mexican work camp , in Marsh Valley and the massacre grounds really were on the slopes of the Superstition Mountain, than my question is where were they working rich deposits or mines in an area devoid of mineral?

S.C. And that what you say is all part of Dutchman Hunting; that is each not divulging secrets, not blinking first, etc. I always said that if everyone did feed their secret information into a computer or somehow put everyone's secrets together you might be able to find the mine, but in reality even...

Geronimo Head

The stone face can not be seen from LaBarge. It is on the LaBarge side, not the Peter's side. I'm familiar with the pits LDM described, but the little camp is in the canyon or ravine across from tne face which had the inscriptions in it. The best way to view the face is to come at it from the north....

Wiz,

I don't know if these are the ones your refering to, but the ones I'm familiar with were built in the early 1970's by Harry Van Suitt

Ldm, Yes ,I'm sure you know the right J. W. inscriptions. That is where they are. There is alot of hydrothermal action , but as you said no mineral. Brian and I dug quite abit around there. S.C. When I spoke of going ontop of Geronimo , of course it was by horseback with Tom. Although there are othe...

Geronimo Head

Since all the talk lately on the top of Bluff Springs, It prompted me to talk of Geronimo Head Mountain. I'd like to share this info and see if anyone else has seen these things. Years ago when my partner Brian Lickman and I were just bumbling around the mountains, we met and befriended Chuck Aylor....

Magill mine

Hello, Just got back from vacation. Going back to what S.C. stated about nothing being left at Magill's site, because of what the Forest Service had done is true. Not only that but they hauled off and covered over anything up there that Al Reiser had done. Some may know of him. He had spent 40 years...

Glad someone got to see the program. I missed it . Your right about TV just scantily handiling the LDM, but it does promote the legend , which we on this site all seem to be a part of, and it gives us a nice place to be, unlike everyone else who just is swirling in space with no particular place to ...

Peralta battle where did it start?

Peter,

What Kochera told me and showed on a map, was he found it on top of Peter's Mesa, just off the trail, west of Charlebois. Of course a map would be better to show.

Peralta battle, where was it?

I agree , the Kochera story and the ore has great significance to maybe finding the mine. If for no other reason, than the matching of the ore , that has been done , at least should tell any doubters of the mine being in the Superstitions, that this is the home of the mine and nowhere else. Anymore ...

Peralta battle wheredid it start?

I posted yesterday, but I do not see it here. Let me say again that I knew Kochera for 20 years and spent much time with him through the years. I can only say one more time, Kochera found the gold ore where he said he did, On Peter's Mesa, just off the trail. Where it came from , we may discuss for ...

Peralta battle .. where did it start???

Listen to me one more time, Peter I fully respect your knowledge on the Dutchman , I challenge you to how well you knew Kochera, however. I probaly knew him better than anyone here. He did find the bags by the trail on Peter's Mesa, they were not found anywhere else. I have a sworn statement and a v...

Wiz, I have found an actual mine that we hope to prove in our excavations this October, to be a Spanish or Mexican mine. It may have processed bullion from the area, but beyond that it was a placer deposit worked by the Spanish. Was it the Dutchman? Time will tell. You are exactly right, in that ore...

Peralta battle where did it start?

Peter, Yes it is very interesting. Again that was Kochera's take, which as you , I think is plausible. If they were in fact calvary bags , they could of belonged to others that were not army. I guess as to your question where it came from, when one finds ore that matches it at it's source we'll know...

Peralta battle, wheredid it start?

S.C. First I want to say again , I knew Kochera for over 20 years. I will relate to you what I remember he said about the saddlebags. He felt they were of 1870-1890's vintage. I believe from style , straps, etc. Of course he may have been wrong, but he did not feel they were from Mexican prospectors...

Peralta battle, where did it start?

Peter, Your one of the only other one's that believe in two such dates on the Apache massacre. Please elaborate. As far as the other post , that it was probaly close to their mining area, I too believe that to be the case. Now where do you think a major mining activity with enough gold, silver could...
