Re: 2009 rendezvous
I've always been an outdoorsy kind of person and have had an adventuresome spirit, but I've never been able to persue that as much as I'd like to have done. A couple friends of mine got me into gold panning while I was living in California. Another friend showed me a hollow boulder out in the desert...

Re: 2009 rendezvous
I found the skull and horns of a desert bighorn, minus the jaw. The horns go only half-circle. I don't have a truck to mount it on, and somebody would probably steal it if I mounted it on the handlebars of my mountain bike!

Re: 2009 rendezvous
Hi, Wayne.
If there are open invites to a few hikes, I'll make all of them I can ----even if I have to ride my mountain bike out to them!

Re: 2009 rendezvous
I really enjoyed the Dutch Hunter's Rendevous this past weekend. It was my first time to one, as I only found out about it earlier this month. I wish I had known about the rendevous five years ago! I threw my mountain bike (my only transportation) on the bus and rode it out to the end of the line at...

Military Trail
The three red hills are there, I saw them myself on my last trip into the Superstitions. After you come out of La Barge Box and continue to follow the trail east, they are to the north before you hit the Hoolie Bacon trail. I've been researching the Lost Dutchman Mine since 1993 and reading everythi...

Military Trail
Horse Camp Basin is on the east side of Music Mountain, which is to the south of Peter's Mesa. The Hoolie Bacon trail would take you there from the south. Check the Weaver's Needle topo. I forgot to mention a couple of other clues that suggest that this portion of the Old Spanish Trail is what Jacob...

Military Trail
Horse Camp Basin is the area where Brownie Holmes found a 40 acre site of cut mesquite stumps. It is also where the remains of a work camp were found, barrels gone to hoops and staves, new horse shoes, etc. It was also known as the Soldier Camp . One of the oldest trails in the Superstions goes by t...

Spanish Trail Monuments
For those of you who are familiar with Charles Kenworthy's book about Spanish trail monuments in the US, I can tell you that most of the trail monuments he has pictures of in his book are located in the Superstitions. (A couple or so of his pictures of other monuments are touched up, and he exaggera...
