Re: The Trail of Jacob Waltz’s Gold Ore
Judging only from the picture...since the matchbox is not available to inspect, I have always thought that what is supposed to be a slab of ore actually appears to be a very well inlaid map of a certain section of the supes. Maps maps maps...everywhere maps. Who's to say? Don't be too hasty to ...

Thank you for the education Randy?! A person can learn so much from snide comments. Just so I'm straightened out on the subject, can I or can I not refer to gold dust as aurum utalium...and be correct??? Going forward and barring the dutchman having stumbled upon gold bullion or coins do you think ...

LDM ore
Anyone care to weigh in on the topic of whether the LDM ore "concentrate" could have in fact been aurum utalium...commonly referred to as gold dust?

Jim, that is right in line with what I was thinking. I suppose he could have been using the term ironwood for mesquite.? Anyway...Feeling too old to protect the mine means feeling too old to laboriously and meticulously cover the mine...in my mind. Thanks

pit mine covered
Joe, I am just a bit curious as to who discovered that pit mine and reported that it was filled in the way Jacob said it was? Was it anyone who could have known the location of the "real" mine and so wanted, again, to mis-direct others to the wrong mine/location etc? How many witnesses were there ...

Did Jacob Waltz lie about having covered up the mine?
I am just curious as to whether anyone else thinks that Jacob Waltz lied about the manner in which he concealed the mine and whether he actually even covered it up at all? When he was eighty years old he was supposed to have cut and hauled Ironwood logs to the mine to seal it up. I have an ironwood ...

Knun, Don't get me wrong...I am not antagonizing PWP. I agree with his sentiment quite often, but not across the board. Every man has his poison...pot,pills,poker,alcohol...even outspoken ridicule is a fix for some people. I try not to judge because that's the fastest way to make an enemy of someone ...

Knun,
I'm guessing that China could probably camp it's whole war apparatus at the border and Obama would visit and give them all Ipod's.

what's up
?Joe Joe Joe...what's up with the cheap-shot on Mormon's? Although you are possibly factually correct, the deeper issue was that those people were afraid of being killed for their "Mormonism"...not for their polygamy. I've noticed you seem to have quite a moral high-horse.

shiny
Critter, thanks for the information. I'm guessing that there could be a fair amount of gold in there and it still wouldn't matter as it isn't a very large sample. Just something I picked up out hiking.

sulphur
The reason I asked the question has to do with some samples of sulfur I collected recently that appear to have gold dust in them. Haven't tested them yet but thought I remembered a couple references to High sulfur on the site. Thank you Randy. Thank you Pippin.

border condiderations
Hi Pippin,
Just my two cents here but are there any borders that are/were made with those considerations in mind? Of course I don't know anything about the borders on other planets...so I can't speak to those.
