Mr. Askey: The way these things always end. 3 floaters and a kings`s ransom in gold bars being sold. Novice: What Ruth was after was in a gold mine. A barren mine. A old mine. Wonder why Saint Tex would be carrying a headless old gentleman around the Superstitions? Just on the surface does seem a bi...

Ruth was not a fool. Tex was not a saint.
Ruth found what he was looking for.
Then the fun began. Ended in New York.
Mr. Ribaudo,
Your analysis is the correct one. Almost

TGH, I guess I just don`t understand why you would take gold to a gold mine. I can understand taking gold with you in small quantites as a good luck charm, etc., or taking gold samples to compare to an outcrop that you have not located. But as LDM has pointed out Gasser knew where this particular ho...

LDM, Guess this all hinges then on what the word proof means. Assuming Walt was on to something significant then the proof of it being the LDM would be the putting together of the clues so they fit and led one to the location Gasser had identified. Seems odd a man would take gold into the mountains when the purpose of his trip was to validate his theory of where the mine was located. If he was on to something importent there would be plenty of time later on to compare samples. One would think a gentleman of his age would want to save space in ...

LDM,
My first post gave you the what. The how and why directly follow from that.
Look at the phenomena without the worn out paradigms. What is it that happened and what were the results.
Could be Walt just wanted the last laugh.

About the backpack of Gold shown to Mr. K. Any thoughts on how that fits into everything that has preceded?

Who knows. Maybe Gassler accomplished, with a little help from his friends, exactly what he set out to.
Mr. K gets to sniff the gold, Mr. Corbin gets a hot new clue list, nothing changes except the ldm becomes even more difficult to find.
A sting. And a very good one.
