Crossing the Salt/Soldiers Well

Mr. Hamrick
I believe the well you are looking for is marked Old Well and it is on
the road from Maryville to Florence. It's about where Apache Jct. is and
not very far from the Superstitions.

Bill the one on the right does have a beard but I believe that man to be
McEntee and the one with no name is next to him.
I think the way it read under the picture is the one on the left is Colonel
Sharpe, real name John Murphy, next to him is a man called Babcock
and the man on the right is ...

bill711

Bill I'm so glad you got off that ledge with minimal damage and didn't fall
into the mine shaft and really get yourself hurt bad.

The man in the picture was clean shaven and could have been about 50
years old. It's not easy to tell from the picture. He could have grown the
beard later in ...

The picture you posted in the archives of Colonal Sharpe appears to be
the right picture that Roy was talking about but I think that Jacob Waltz
was not the one on the right. John Murphy was on the left, Babcock was
next to him and McEntee was on the right. I believe that Jacob Waltz is ...

Those photos were fairly common in the early 1950's. I have numerous
pictures taken when I was small that have the same border.

Stone Maps

All

Some of the confusion over the stone maps of late, whether or not they
are real or not, could be as a result of what happened last year at the
show in January. I think this is sorta what happened! Please Joe don't
disect this word for word.

At the show last year the real Stone Maps were on ...

Ledge

bill711

Bill, the ledge is under the Indian nose and if you fell or jumped off you
wouldn't DIE but you could get scratched up, bruise or twist something
and that could be bad out there. The ledge is the only way to get to the
mine and the large cave about 200' across. This mine is about a mile ...

Ledge

Roger
Yes, there are other things that go with the ledge. It's not just any old
ledge that you could find anywhere.

Peter
There could very easily have been a hole at the beginning of the ledge
that has collapsed or been destroyed over the 150+ years.

And Joe
Yes, you don't know any of the details ...

Starbursts

Joe

I was assuming what Late was talking about is the circle within circle and
a bunch of lines going out from the circles like the ones on top of Black
Top Mesa, on rock.

As far as the trick goes it would be almost as if you came to a dead end
as could go no further. You would even have to take ...

Starbursts

Late49

Just thought I'd jump in here if it's OK! The Spanish left the starbursts.

The trick that's being talked about is a narrow ledge about a foot wide
that has a drop off on one side and a wall on the other side. You have to
turn sideways with your back to the wall and inch along to get there ...

Reiney's Letter

Joe

What you were talking about was from Bark's notes, true. But the part I
was referring to was on page 74 of "The Curse of the Dutchman's Gold".
Helen also quoted the part you were talking about on page 94.

Whereabouts of Hermann

GK

Helen Corbin writes that Julia was the one that wrote the letter to Hermann
and Gotfried to ask them for help with finding the mine. At that time they
were in Colorado. If all that is true then the letter that Hatt is supposed to
been connected with never happened.

The reason for all the secrecy about the Tumlinsons was because of the

What makes you think that they weren't brothers? I didn't know about
Robert until Dr. Glover's book. Travis Marlowe (Clarence Mitchell) wrote
that Travis Tumlinson found the maps. So, he must have passed them to

I'm not disagreeing with you! On page 99 of Don Shade's book he states
that Barry Storm moved that story. I believe that Joe Deering just
happened to be a soldier and that he was not part of the two soldiers
story. I believe he discovered one of the Peralta mines but not the one
the we refer ...

The FIRST Set of STONE MAPS

Has anyone read or heard anything about a set of Stone Maps being
discovered in a Mission in Mexico? They supposedly disappeared shortly
after being discovered. It's my belief that this set of Stone Maps was the
first set of Stone Maps and they were left at the Mission for safe keeping.
ANYONE ...

I'm a little surprised at your answer! But I too believe Bark's account is
pretty accurate mainly because the two soldiers thing didn't happen so
why make up a story that it did happen. Barry Storm moved that story
from Mt. Ord to fit his story! Don Shade was a close friend of Barry's and
he ...

Well, how goes the search for Jesuit Hill? A little something more that you

Interesting find! There was another spoon found not to far from where you

I believe everyone has the right idea. If you type in Max Delta Mine it is

There are several books out that have pictures of the signs and symbols
that are followed and show the end results. One of the best is "A Treasure
Hunters Handbook" by Chastain. He hunted treasure for years with good
results following those signs.
