Re: Ruth's Trail

Hah!

At last, a thread where I can actually offer some meaningful input! I read here all the time, but I never can think of anything intelligent to add to the expert comments of the longtime posters.

The first chapter of Sims Ely’s book, it is implied that the route taken by Ruth was “up Willow ...

Thanks for the tip, S.C.!

You're right, it is a great site, and it went down about 4 days after I discovered it...what rotten timing on my part! I had given up on it completely, but it's good to have it back.

Some of Tracy’s remarks on the condition and age of the books make me wonder if they weren’t simply removed from general circulation to preserve them. I’m guessing the Phoenix library might have relocated them to their reference section or (more likely), their rare book collection.

It sounds like ...

I'm wondering if Tracy and azmula are talking about the same book. I searched the web for that title and found the same book azmula did. It's a one-volume, 376-page, 1992 book that seems to be an indictment of the Catholic church's role in the European colonization of the Americas, written by a ...

Thanks Tracy!

I will look for the book you mentioned.

Speaking of the Doc Noss story, I was living in El Paso in the late 1970’s when things were really heating up between the Noss heirs and the military. The story was in the paper every week, and I was hoping the mystery would soon be revealed ...

I guess we’re drifting off the original subject here, but anything related to the Ruth story is interesting as far as I'm concerned.

Apparently it’s always going to remain up in the air whether Ruth died accidentally or was murdered. Two things swing my opinion slightly in the direction of the ...

I’m curious about the background of the lost Jesuit treasure story. I’ve mainly heard of it in relation to the Celeste Marie Jones/Ed Piper dispute, and in later scattered mentions from others who seem convinced of its authenticity. None of these sources seem very authoritative.

Does anyone know of ...

That Guirey story does sound a little suspicious, doesn’t it? I’m not familiar with it though, is it available somewhere for reading?

I’m no lawyer, but I can’t imagine how Mrs. Ruth’s reluctance to come to Arizona would have any effect on the prosecution of a murder case. If, as Don said, it was ...

don,

HikeArizona.com might be the site you're referring to. Its webmaster shut it down several weeks ago, apparently for good. It's too bad, since it was a terrific site.

A new site, Arizonahikers.com, is continuing the message board function of the earlier site, but I don't know if the hiking ...

S.C., I didn’t mean to imply you stole that notion from Polzer!

On the contrary, I had the humorous notion that he was stealing your theory. Either that, or you both had the same coloring book as kids!

I’m interested in, but skeptical about the stone maps too. And I agree that horse (not to ...

Speaking of Bobby…

S.C., I’m sure you already know this, but I was reading Sikorsky’s book last night and saw an interesting quote from Charles Polzer regarding the Stone Maps:

“the horse design on the rock can be found in children’s drawing books”

I thought of you instantly and wondered who got ...

Hey, I'm here, and I find this forum fascinating. I'd feel like Typhoid Mary if it slacked off just about the time I started posting!

A few questions for discussion from a newcomer...

Hello Folks…

I’ve been reading this message board for the past few weeks (and going through the archived material), and I must say I’m very impressed with the knowledge and sense of community on display here, and I’d like to join in, if possible.

I’m not much of a treasure hunter, but the history ...
