I found Corbin's book to be well written and very enjoyable to read. Like Ron's book, the "faction" format is a neat way to bring history to life.
I was wondering if anyone knows when the last time a horse was up on top of the Flatiron. It is obvious that the route taken in the book was from First Water south to W.Boulder Canyon down past Willow Springs, then up 5057' to the ridgeline and over to the Flatiron.
I have recently hiked to Willow Springs in W.Boulder Cyn, both from the north and the south, and can attest to the fact that the trail has become completely overgrown and is nearly impassable to humans, let alone a horse. I really can't think of any other route that would be possible on horseback.
