Reality Check......

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

I don't think anyone was hoping you would show up at the Rendezvos. I will, of course miss your charming personality. Other's have said that not many people will talk to me at the event, the reality is something else altogether. As someone who can't stand reality, I can see why you would not want to be there.

Your idea of reality is the fantasy of standing beside me. I am reminded of Wyatt coming to the first Rendezvous, standing in the distance and glaring. Just little boys whistling in the dark.

Still Whistling.....

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

pip,

More whistling in the dark.

You seem fixated on unnatural acts. Is this hostility all about your personal lifestyle? It's plain to see that you are an unhappy person, hopelessly trapped in your childhood. Are you one of those unfortunate children who's daddy is keeping him in school, just to keep him away from the house?

The world out here is really hard, and getting harder. Probably best that you stay at NAU. How many years do you reckon you can milk that gig?

I think Albert Einstein would disagree with you.

quote:
A recently unearthed letter written by Albert Einstein in January 1954, one year before his death, is yet another strong link in the chain of proves that Einstein was not the religious believer supernaturalists claimed him to be. The handwritten letter, addressed to the philosopher Eric Gutkind, describes the idea of God as “product of human weakness” and the bible as “pretty childish” and may finally put an end to all attempts to colour the illustrious thinker as a defender of religious faith.

Einstein........

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

DG,

While Einstein did not believe in the Biblical God, that alone would not make him an atheist. To be an atheist, he would have to believe in no gods, whatsoever. His own words support the fact that he was no atheist, and did not consider himself one:

[The battle over the theory of relativity had also slightly reached over into America, where youth was warned by a Boston Cardinal to beware of Einstein the atheist. Thereupon Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein of New York cabled Einstein: "Do you believe in God?"Einstein cabled back: "I believe in Spinoza's God, who reveals himself in the harmony of all being, not in a God who concerns himself with the fate and actions of men."]
Quote from: "Albert Einstein: Philosopher-Scientist" by, Paul Arthur Schilpp.

"God doesn't do anything like that."

"Thank God there is no risk involved for either of you."

"God does not play dice,"

"God is subtle but not malicious,"

Some would argue that believing in Spinoza's god, would be the same thing as being an atheist. I would disagree, as would Einstein who refused to call himself an atheist, saying this:

"... there are yet people who say there is no God. But what really makes me angry is that they quote me for support of such views."

There are many other quotes which I could bring into the discussion, but I should think this should suffice.

Albert Einstein was not an atheist. Atheism is "godlessness". By hs own words, Einstein tells us he believes in a non-biblical god.

Joe Ribaudo

JR,
No that does not suffice, because it allows you to infer that he was using the word "god" as a deity. To clarify you must acknowledge that he used a different definition for the word "god" in the quotes you provided versus the "god" used in the private letter to his philosopher friend.

In the quotes you posted you can easily substitute the term "laws of nature" and you would be closer to his definition.

In the letter to his friend where he describes the idea of God as “product of human weakness” he is referring to the deity that most of us were raised to worship.

So which of these definitions from Websters comes closer to defining his beliefs?

Something I received today:

From OldHippie.com

Once upon a time, on a government subsidized farm in Chicago, there was a little red hen who scratched about the barnyard until she uncovered quite a few grains of wheat.

She called all of her neighbors together and said, "If we plant this wheat, we shall have tasty bread to eat. Who will help me plant it?"

"Not I," said the cow.
"Not I," said the goose.
"Not I," said the pig.
"Not I," said the skinny pencil-necked crow.

"Then I will do it by myself," said the little red hen. And so she did; and the wheat grew very tall and ripened into golden grain.
"Who will help me reap my wheat?" asked the little red hen.

"Not I, I busy watching Oprah and Jerry Springer" said the cow.
"I'm busy forging voter's registrations for ACORN" said the pig.
"I just got my Welfare check and heading out to buy a big rock of Crack," said the goose.
"Above my pay grade," said the crow, looking up from reading the Koran.

"Then I will do it by myself," said the little red hen, and so she did.
At last it came time to bake the bread. "Who will help me bake the bread? Asked the little red hen.

"I'm heading out to listen to Rev. Wright give another inspirational speech" said the cow.
"I'd lose my welfare benefits if I worked," said the goose.
"I'm too tired from playing mid-night basketball all night" said the pig.
"Asking the Black Bird to help, that's racist," said the crow's racist wife.

"Then I will do it by myself," said the little red hen. She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a loaf each. But the little red hen said, "No, I shall keep all five loaves as I did all of the work this year to earn them."

"Excess profits!" cried the cow.
"Capitalist leech!" screamed the goose.
"That's racist, I demand reparations!" yelled the crow.
The pig just grunted in disdain. And they all headed down to ACORN to complain, and ACORN had their Muslim lawyer file a class-action suit against all Red Hens for being racists.

Then a community organizer came, his name was Barrack, he said to the little red hen, "You must not be so greedy, it is Patriotic to spread the wealth."

"But I earned the bread," said the little red hen.

"Exactly," said the community organizer. "That is what makes our new 2009 Socialist system so wonderful. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our new tax code, the 5% productive workers must "spread the wealth" with the 95% losers who are now lazy and idle. Its the patriotic thing to do!"

And for the next year or so they all lived happily in subsidized housing, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, "I am grateful, for now I truly understand Socialism."

However her neighbors became quite disappointed in her for becoming an under-achiever. She never again baked bread because she joined the "party" and got her stale tasteless bread free. And all the Democrats smiled. 'Fairness' had been established.

Then individual initiative died but nobody noticed; perhaps no one cared, as long as there was free bread. Then a day came when all achievers (after renouncing their US Citizenship and moving to the Cayman's to avoid the 50% Capital Gains Tax) sold their businesses for Euros to Middle-Eastern Arabs who incorporated them in Bahrain. Suddenly there was no entrepreneurs or American owned businesses left to spread the wealth from. Disappointed that Socialism was a failure from driving all business and entrepreneurs out of the country, America was ripe for an Islamic revolution, and the country spent the next two hundred years ruled by Mullahs under a new set of Muslim laws.

Fact is that a Democracy can can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result being that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, and is always followed by a dictatorship.

Greed and envy causes Capitalist (where those who work the hardest and smartest acquire more than those who are crackheads and crackwhores!) societies to go through a succession of eight phases. They are:

From bondage to spiritual faith;

From spiritual faith to great courage;

From courage to liberty;

From liberty to abundance; (The years immediately following WWII)

From abundance to complacency; (The Clinton Years)

From complacency to apathy; (Where there are no longer enough people to support morality and fiscal responsibility; and we ignore the character of the people in the White House and running the Senate and House)

From apathy to dependence; (The moment 95% of the people live off the taxes of 5%)

From dependency back into bondage.” (When the 5% don't take it -- and leave, causing a fiscal meltdown)

With a Supermajority, where the White House has the same party as the Senate and House who has a greater than 60% majority, we will move from phase 6 to phase 7. This won't just last four or eight years -- but is virtually irreversible from the unfair changes in voting registration laws -- and the lifetime appointments (averaging 30 years) of hundreds of Federal and Supreme Court judges who will legislate from the bench.

If you have been paying even the least bit of attention -- you can see that there is no doubt we are in Phase 6, and there is no doubt that the Supermajority will complete the process of bringing America into full Socialism. Communism generally follows.

It is not too late! We have two weeks to stop being apathetic and get the word out on what we are setting ourselves up for. You can start by emailing this message to all who will listen -- and ask that they do the same.

Government bail out???!!!!!!!!!

Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in
Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it. They failed and it closed. Now we are trusting the economy of our country to a pack of nit-wits who couldn't make money running a whore house and selling booze!!!!!!!

HANOI, Vietnam – Mention the U.S. election on the streets of Hanoi, and you are likely to get two very different reactions.
Among the young, the most common response is a shrug. But older people – the Vietnam War generation – are watching closely, and everybody I spoke to was backing the man they know: Sen. John McCain.

Funny?

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

Funny how a man who was tortured near to death for over five years in Hanoi, could reach across an ocean, hold out his hand in friendship and forgiveness and be admired by those who were once his enemies. Character flaw, I suppose.

Funny how that admiration and strength of character could become a laughing matter in an election campaign. Funny how someone would try to tie John McCain to communism and use it to ridicule him.

While I have called it funny, it's not funny in a humorous way. It is funny in a sick and twisted manner. John McCain championed the cause of normalizing relations with Vietnam. While that is not something I was big enough to agree with, I applaud his humanity.

The youth in Hanoi are no different than many of the young people around the world, including the USA. Being able to appreciate what John McCain has done for this country, as well as Vietnam, is something that usually comes with age and experience......tempered with memories.

Each and every time you reach a low point in the evolutionary chain, I think it is ended. It would seem that point will never be reached.

example of disjointed logic commonly used by republicans:
from senator stevens trial transcript.

He said he considered that chair a loan.

"And the chair is still at your house?" prosecutor Brenda Morris asked.

"Yes," Stevens said.

"How is that not a gift?"

"He bought that chair as a gift, but I refused it as a gift," Stevens said. "He put it there and said it was my chair. I told him I would not accept it as a gift. We have lots of things in our house that don't belong to us."

Playing to the jury, Morris appeared confused.

"So, if you say it's not a gift, it's not a gift?" she said.

"I refused it as a gift," Stevens replied. "I let him put it in our basement at his request."

what a giggle.
when i proposed that a late spanish-early mexican period pit mine could be located in superior, ( the mineralized district) joe was among the leaders in pooin the idea that anyone would have dug a mine in that area at the time in question, nor could it be one of the 'peralta mines'....'picket post does not look like a sombreo...'
anyone who wishs may go investigate that twin pit i found up in superior...at least it will give those of you who wish to see what a filled, pit mine of the looks like.
now it turns out...that here we are at the northwest edge of that mineralized district...only now book sales are involved..so hence the hostility
i would love to see facts supporting the 'lost dutchman' stories...
but none have appeared...only more words for sale.
_____________________________________________________________

If I was the leader in "pooin" your discovery. That means you felt there were others who were following my lead. Was there not a single soul who found your pearls of wisdom interesting? Did we all insult your superior, no pun intended, intelligence? You have whined about how you have not been treated with respect here, on Peter's site and on Treasure Net. Do we see a pattern here at all?

Is your popularity among the "crackwhore" crowd the only thing that gives your life any meaning? I know you are......different, but you should get out among the regular folk more often.

My guess is that we are the only ones in your entire life who even acknowledge that you are alive. After all, in reality, there are only four people on the face of the earth who think you are a "genius", and they are all posting on the First Amendment Forum. One of those four.......would be you.

Admitedly, you have been good for a few laughs. The only time you can write and intelligent post, is when you copy and post someone elses work.
Something tells me that pretty much sums up you school work as well.

On the other hand, it makes me smile to have you say you have shown your professors our little exchanges, and they still think you're a "genius".

pip,

You are correct I was not there, but incorrect about my having no knowledge of the issue. It's called research. If you only do a quick Internet search, which is your MO, you might not see what a phoney story you were hawking. Not to worry, as we are all used to your fairy tales by now. While I am no expert on the subject, I am just knowledgeable enough to know that McCain did not come home to Phoenix and more specifically, he did not fly into Sky Harbor Mission......

What you did get perfectly correct, was that you were one of 30 odd people. Actually I am sure there are more than 30 who have been released, but you are definitely one of the "odd people". It's really pretty odd to have such a fixation on your sexual fantasies. Now I understand why you are such an authority on what the V.A. has to offer on mental problems. 8O

Brilliant deduction "genius". Actually, a friend sent me the link and I passed it along. Never heard of them before, kind of like you, pip.

If your so brilliant, one wonders why you don't address the substance rather than the messenger? Could it be that your reading skills are so poor, which you have proved time and again here, that you ran away from all those big words? Did you look at the videos at all? I am betting you didn't bother. Once again, I would imagine, you opted for shallow research. If you don't watch Obama and hear him in his own word, you can always say......."I had no idea". 8O

What do you really do pip, anything? My favorite post of your's was where you boasted:

"first laz..i disagree with you about his ability to do research. i have held paid positions at several of the states mining archives...and never met, or had his name mentioned as a researcher.
last night i recieved a call from a grad sutdent who was told to contact me about research involving southwest mining...seems he had made the comment that the information he wanted did not exist...the professor told him i had the information, and knew which box/folder it was located in..."

Most of us would call that job......file clerk. On the other hand, it's good that you have some achievement that you're proud of. Nice to know that degree isn't going to waste. 8O Does your job a Sizzler interfere with your filing duties?
