Old Churches in Arizona

Post by count »

I am searching for an old church on the Papago Indian Reservation. It should be about 50 - 75 miles west of Tucson. Has anyone ever heard of one that was built in the late 1700's or early 1800's in that area? It is either Jesuit or Franciscan.

azmula

The only one I'm familiar with is on the reservation, just west of Sacaton. It probaly is not what you're looking for , but it is of Franciscan Order, for on the wall of this church it was denoted as such . When I was hot on the rock maps ( which I'm not now), I traveled through the reservation inspecting churches to see how old some of them were. Only this particular church I spoke of had an edict hanging that proclaimed it to be Franciscan, with the date. I do not remember the date though.
