Easy Question

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

Randy,

That's an easy one.

It's right where Waltz told Julia it was.

Randy,

I believe it was you who asked if I knew of any mines in the area of the Massacre Grounds. The thread got a little sidetracked, but I will give you an answer.

The Palmer Mine is just around the corner. There are others, you will need to find them for yourself.

Randy,

I am assuming here that what you mean is the mine that Jacob Waltz mined and collected his ore from.

Actually, its right where Waltz told Dick Holmes it was...... Still there, in fact.

You mean there is more than one dutchman mine? 8O

Ahh. I asked because you said this:
Waltz is prospecting in the area of a mine on the western edge of the Superstitions. He comes on the site of the Apache massacre. He finds gold laying on the ground that, unknown to him, was cut from the backs of the Apache's favorite food.
I was wondering if you knew what mine it was. Guess I'll have to go have a looksee for myself.

There is only ONE LDM.

But there are several (many?) mines back in those mountains that fit the bill.

Makes sense. Thanks :)

Who's Selling?

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

Matthew,

I did not sell you short, which is why I said, "I don't believe you knew either man". In the years that we have been exchanging e-mails and private messages, you have never mentioned meeting my Uncle, even though you mentioned his name several times.

Whoever is feeding you information on what took place at the Quarter Circle U, does not have all the facts. As far as I know, there is only one person around who knows all the facts, and that would be Tracy Hawkins.
Greg Davis, as with everything concerning the LDM and Superstition Mt. history, probably has some information as well.

I would suggest you try to get in touch with Tracy if you want the correct story.

What do you remember, other than they "were fine people" about Chuck and Maxine? Do you have a visual memory of what they looked like?
Both of them had distinct features that would have stood out to anyone who met them.

In the last ten years I have met a lot of "old timers". Outside his circle of friends and partners, only one man ever met Chuck. When I came on this site I was looking for people who knew Chuck, Ernie or Tracy. Not one person claimed to know them, including you.

On the other hand, there are people on this Forum who have lied for years about their relationships with others. Built up little stories about not knowing so and so. Man just don't know who he can trust. In that, Peter was correct when he said, nobody.

Well.....Case in point.

Let's try this again, and see which idiots jump out from under their rocks
to inject their wit into the conversation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems like a lot of good question get ignored or the subject gets changed.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a topic where those kinds of questions don't get buried under personal attacks or a cold shoulder.

Along the lines of my question concerning the truthfulness of the Two Soldier's story is another about E.A. Panknin, also said to be tied into their story.

Was Ernest actually a resident of Alaska, as it has been reported, or did he move to Arizona at the age of fifteen, passing away in 1934? To help the story along a little, he was living in Arizona in 1900, and working as a servant and day-laborer for a lady named Laura Ann Poole.

Another question that some clever person might want to pursue is: What hospital did Harry LaFrance die in? Did he actually die as reported, or did he pack some gold bars out of the mountains and disappear? if he did, who helped him?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We might want to add: Was there ever a Harry LaFrance? Was he Harry L. France?

For those who may not have seen "the well known 1900 census record",
the portion we are talking about has been posted in Member Archive.

"Its obvious to even this "under-the-rock dwelling idiot"..."

It's nice to see that we finally agree on something.

You are rushing headlong into a Moderated Forum. We could cut that time in half if I were to answer you in kind. Is that what you want?
