Invite?

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

Randy,

Last year we specifically told one (or twenty) people, depending on how you count a multiple personality member, that he was not invited.

People who have the nerve to show up after some of the stunts they have pulled on this site will likely figure that discretion is the better part of valor. Trouble makers or drunks will be escorted out of camp, and that must be done by everyone.

This is not MY affair. It's a "Dutch Hunter's Rendezvous". It is open to all "Dutch Hunters". If you have the balls to show up, and some have forty or so sets, you are welcome.

Anyone who sets foot in camp, as far as I am concerned, will be treated with respect. Any rules, regulations or decisions will be made by the camp as a whole.

Of course you are welcome.

Respectfully,

Joe

2006 Rendezvous

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

All,

"Like some thinking person is going to give this moron $25 for the priviledge of sitting around the Dons Camp and listening to his nonsense.
NO ONE who knows ANYTHING about the real story behind the LDM and its whereabouts is going to talk about it in public."

Peter may have some kind of point here.

If the $25., or sending it to me, is some kind of problem, feel free to let me know. Here's what I will do: I will refund the money if you show up. If you don't, we will keep it. I will still pay for and bring the food I have promised.

While I am not wealthy, by any means, I won't be burdened by the cost.

As any of the people who attended the last Rendezvous can tell you, It was not "Joe Ribaudo's Rendezvous". I believe I listened more than I talked. We did not talk about anyone's favorite location for the LDM. We did discuss everything else concerning the Legends of the Superstitions. I don't think anyone even asked: So where do you think it is?

The Rendezvous was not a "joke" for anyone who attended. Can't speak for the kids that remained outside the candy store, with their runny noses pressed against the window. The adults can make their own decisions without our input.

I expect we will get the same type of bashing on the Forum as we did last year. Anyone who takes that crap to heart won't be missed.

My address and phone number are in an earlier post here, if anyone needs it.

On The Outside......

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

Peter,

Wow! That's a lot of snot on the window. It would seem that you did not manage to understand my last post. :?

I will refund the $25. to those who show up. The reason for the charge, is to reduce the number of %##@*&s who join the Forum, say they will be there, never intending to show.

If anyone want's T-shirts or Mugs, I will order them for you. I will bring the invoice, just like last year and only charge what was paid for them. Like last year, I will pay for it all, and end up eating the cost for those who order and don't show up.

Nonsense Deleated. (Joe)

I made it very plain when I first mentioned the $25., that I would try to make that cover a T-shirt and mug. I have no doubt that everyone caught that but you. Instead, I will only take orders for those items, and refund the money to those who show up, as I have said.

Nonsense Deleated.

Take care,

Joe

Excessive Interest

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

Peter,

Glad to see you taking such an interest in the Rendezvous. It's also nice that you are looking out for the other members. No doubt they need some help seeing all the pit-falls related to the Rendezvous.

When I say it's not the Joe Ribaudo Rendezvous, I don't mean that I have nothing to do with it happening. I do make a little effort to make sure that there is some organization and planning put into the event.
If someone else would like to do that, I would be happy to bow out and just have fun. :)

You should worry less about who is in charge of the event, and how you can find a way to be there. The money seems to be a major stumbling block, so I will offer to pay your fee, right now. There's no way in the world that you could pay for the kind of entertainment you would receive from such a gathering of fools.

Forgot to ask: "Want folks to show up that actually KNOW something".

Are you hinting that the folks that showed up last year.....know nothing?

"What would happen if I decided to show up and not eat any Joe Ribado Rendezvous Stew...but would rather chow down on my peyote laced brownies instead?"

"peyote laced brownies"? 8O .....Why we, as your friends, would just quietly do an intervention and haul you off to the nearest Betty Ford Clinic. I assume that must already be in the works. 8O

I look forward to resuming our conversation when you are feeling better.

Take care,

Joe

Posted: Thu Jun 01, 2006 12:20 pm Post subject: Fees

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All,

The dates for the 2006 Dutch Hunter's Rendezvous remain Oct. 20th., 22nd. and the 23rd. They won't be changing.

Greg Davis and I will be working on the details and will have it pretty well ironed-out in the next few months. One of the things we will settle on, is a fee for the event. I want to make it high enough to discourage the "less than sure" from commiting and then blowing it off at the last minute and low enough to not exclude anyone.
Right now, I am leaning towards $25. for a fee. Once again I will provide home made stew and garlic toast for Friday night and Italian Sausage Gravy with home made biscuits for breakfast Saturday morning. I will donate those meals to the event.

I don't want to make any money from the event, so I will try to include a T-shirt and coffee mug in your fee. If anyone want's extras, I will have the invoice with me, and you can order as many as you want at my cost.

Last year we had over thirty people who commited and only thirteen showed up. The knowledge and experience of those who made it, was awesome, to say the least. A great many topics concerning the LDM and the Superstition Mountains were discussed, which had never seen the inside of a publication.

Since I am sure my reputation will preceed me, I am hoping that Greg Davis will work at getting some of the GIANTS of the Dutch Hunting Community, who did not make it last year, to attend. I will try to get Tracy Hawkins to show up, if his health allows. We will be close enough that Ron Feldman and his family may be able to drive over for a visit. Busy time of the year for them.

I am looking forward to meeting a lot of the members of the Forum who were not able to show up last year. You all have plenty of time to make your plans.

Respectfully,

2006 Dutch Hunter's Rendezvous

Post by murphy »

Peter,
I have been monitoring this forum for a few years now, and participating when I can, although my knowledge and experience pales in comparison to most of the people who regularly post here. I have always enjoyed your input and its obvious that you are a serious researcher and have a better than most knowledge of many of the subjects discussed here. When you stick to the subject matter you seem rational and well informed and polite, with a good sense of humor. Then all of a sudden you go off on these irrational tirades against Joe. You don't like Joe, SO WHAT! Get over it, develop a thicker skin. If you don't want to attend the Rendezvous, dont. If you think the $25 is a problem, don't send it. I hear no one else complaining about it. Joe and Greg Davis have put time and energy into this project to organize it and make sure it is successful. Somebody has to do that or nothing ever happens, and we just sit around and talk about how great it would be to get together. I would love it if you would come, I think it would make some interesting conversation. I thought we had all gotten past the events that almost destroyed this forum in the past. Let's get over this and move on!

Next Year

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

All,

The Dutch Hunter's Rendezvous seemed like a really good idea, at the time.

Someone else will need to do the leg work next year. Not that it was difficult for me at all, as Greg Davis has done what was required this year, and Grayhair and Sluicebox pounded the advance ground last year.

I will attend, do what is asked of me, and provide what makes me feel good. I have always enjoyed this kind of thing, but realize (now) that this kind of thing can bring out the worst, as well as the best in folks.

I won't be the lightning rod for those who are jealous of the event. I do hope it continues and look forward to showing up for many years to come.

Hope to meet many who could not make it last year, and seeing those who did, again. :)

Respectfully,

Joe Ribaudo

Peter,

I may be speaking out of line here, but as far as I am concerned you are more than welcome to the rendevous. If I get nothing more than to meet a number of you after several years, that is enough for me. Though I may not be a "Dutch hunter" per say, my blood will be running hot as it does every fall and I always welcome anyone to any campfire I sit by. That being said, I hope you do attend Peter, I look forward as much to meeting you as well as the others. I have no problem with the $25 for dinner, a t-shirt and coffee cup. I have no problem with Greg and Joe making the arrangements and I certainly have no problem with sharing a campfire with any of you.

Exclusion

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

All,

I doubt I need to repeat this for most of you, but......

"Last year we specifically told one (or twenty) people, depending on how you count a multiple personality member, that he was not invited.

People who have the nerve to show up after some of the stunts they have pulled on this site will likely figure that discretion is the better part of valor. Trouble makers or drunks will be escorted out of camp, and that must be done by everyone.

Anyone who sets foot in camp, as far as I am concerned, will be treated with respect. Any rules, regulations or decisions will be made by the camp as a whole."

If anyone can find a post, by me, where I have said someone will be turned away for not paying the fee, please drag it into your next post.

As I have said, again and again, the reason for the fee is to stop the crazies from joining the Forum with a new ID, confirming they will be there, never intending to show. Childish, but that's what happened last year.

If someone wants to prepare two meals for 30+ people and then have only half that number turn up......please feel free to make the offer.

No one will be locked out by me. Not my job, and I have never said anything that could be construed that way......at leat by anyone who can read.

Hope that makes it clear enough, but somehow I doubt it.

Respectfully,
