To whom it may concern,

I thought this was a fourm for all, even those that are not aviod LDM, gold and seekers of knowledge. I have learned much form here and even have started a new friendship with another member. I think that the knowlge and wisdom here can not be found anywhere but here. We all have our own ideas on the topic of the LDM. I use the name hound dog because my father said I was like a hound dog, once on the trail I would not give up until what I was seeking was found. Now that I got that off my chest............ Anyone herd any good jokes???

There seems to be more than a few sick, malicious, hate filled individuals on here,it may well be that some are juveniles posing as adults,or indeed the other way round,i dont know.Reading this childish crap its no wonder that most prefer to remain anonymous, if you let one of these jerks know your true identity and address etc theres no telling where it may lead.this kind of shit reminds me of kindergarten days...what a crowd of idiots!-lifes too short

If any of you would like to have an intelligent discussion regarding the LDM please feel free to e-mail me at the college. [email protected]

Right now I have to teach a course involving ethics for the supreme court of the former soviet republic of Tajikistan. I believe some of you folks could learn a lot by looking your self in the mirror and asking yourself what it is you see.

You see, at the end of the day, all we bring into this world is our intergrity and, as Heraclitus noted it is our destiny.

Maybe this whole business, the LDM, is so full of lies and deceit, it poisons everyone it touches.

This is such a damn shame.

This will be my last post on this circus.

Regards,

Late 49er

The Bill,

Mean minded? Not at all. I simply no longer wish to acknowledge certain folks on the forum. Its not a big deal...to me anyway. I am perfectly willing to discuss the LDM provided 1) a post interests me and I have something meaningful to contribute and 2) the person making the post is both sincere and not a knucklehead.

The only things I am interested in these days as far as LDM hunting goes are close in landmarks to the mine. Folks generally do not post anything relating to these , so theres not a whole lot for me to chit chat about, except for general Supe history and such.

Been Late,

Seems to me you were right on time for this site. Hate to see you go.

Who would have thought you were a judge, or even in the business of teaching judges.

I took you for a Geologic Information Specialist. You do seem to know your "stuff".

Sorry you are leaving us.

A Newb,s Question

Post by bill711 »

Peter you usually argue some points with ole Joe BUT here lately, your methode of slander is different. I was enjoying reading about the sup,w until you,all got into the crap throwing contest. NOW you and Joe kiss and makeup THEN we can go back to argueing about the way to the mine. I still wonder if the waterfall is at the creek OR is it a volcanic waterfall? HUH?????? Maybe the heat and the hot FIRE is getting to you and Joe, HUH??? WE have had over 100 degree temp,s to BUT no fire,s so far. When I was a kid The wood,s would BURN for month,s right up to the town. It sure killed the tick,s and chiggers out. 8O Bill 8)

Ya Think?

Dave,

I did appreciate your earlier post. Had some guests in this room, so I didn't want to start plugging on the computer.

As for late, I really hope he does come back. There are only a few of you guys who actually know what the hell you are talking about, and he was a good one. I have always said, I don't know nothing about rocks, and you can take that statement to the bank. I do like to make sure the other fellow knows something though.

I guess he really is B. Davis rather than D. Davis, but he really had me fooled. He came on like a newbie, but didn't take long to show his stuff.
Thought he was going to be another ass, but he did grow on me.

Now the real question here, is: How did Peter figure out that they weren't talking about the same waterfall. It seemed like they had bonded over the same six square inches of Dutchman Dirt. Must have been the comment about "behind the waterfall". :?

Hang in there. The conversation has nowhere to go but up.

Respectfully,

Joe

As a newbe myself, here is my thinking on why Waltz never filed a claim:

Guilt.

He killed seven people over this mine. At least 3 of the people he confessed to killing on his deathbed were found to historically exist and ended in horrible death in the mountains.

He also was greatly fearful of having it stolen or being killed himself over it. Kind of like the old Gene Hackman movie where he was an expert at bugging people......his own apartment was tightly sealed against bugs because he always thought someone was trying to bug him. Likewise, Waltz feared of people stealing the mine he stole and also killing him if they knew where it was.

Guilty As Charged?

Post by Joe Ribaudo »

P.S.,

Welcome to the LDM Forum. That's a personal welcome and has nothing to do with the site or other members. Man's got to have a disclaimer these days.

"He killed seven people over this mine. At least 3 of the people he confessed to killing on his deathbed were found to historically exist and ended in horrible death in the mountains."

Accepting the Waltz "deathbed confession" as something that actually happened, who are the three men "found to historically exist"? I assume two of them are the Two Soldiers. While I believe they may have existed, I am not sure of any documentation. Who is # 3?

The only people who can fabricate a story better than a prospector, are the authors who put those stories in their books.

No doubt you have heard the story of how Waltz sent his mother the money to come to Phoenix for a visit. After making the long trip and resting for a few days, she wanted to go visit her grandson.

Waltz explained that the boy was guarding his mine in the Superstitions. She insisted that he take her to see the boy, as she favoured him above all of her other grandchildren.

Waltz argued that it was to far and much to strenuous for a woman of her age. She reminded him that she had just traveled over fifteen hundred miles to visit him, and that was no cakewalk.

She finally badgered him into taking her to the mine. When they arrived, it was obvious to the woman that, not only was there no one guarding the mine, there was no camp either. She immediately starting yelling and demanding to know what had happened to her grandson.

Realizing he was in a pickle, Waltz panicked and shot the old lady between her beady little eyes. Later, on his deathbed, Waltz confessed to Holmes: "Dick, I just can't abide a whiney woman". Make that eight.
Sources will be furnished on request. :)

PS,

Thanks for your post, though I can't really say that I agree with it.

Guilt in the emotional sense or guilt in the criminal sense? :) *If* Waltz killed 7 people because of the mine, I think he'd be able to manage to hide the bodies in an area as remote, isolated, and rugged as the Superstitions without any fear of discovery.

This is more likely I think, but I really don't have a firm opinion on it since I still don't know enough. My first thought was that if he actually had a mine he could stake his claim, show the ore to demonstrate how rich it was, and then sell the claim.

Waltz might have had a mine, but I'm still not convinced that he did. I think he had a source of gold ore, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was a mine that he worked.
Most of the world's problems are caused by people who take themselves too seriously.
