Salt river project - LDM

Post by Kopped »

How much research has been done on the possibility that the SRP efforts in creating Roosevelt, Apache, Canyon and Saguaro lakes may have actually submerged the LDM. Have there been any diving efforts. If anyone can direct me to research along these lines it would be appreciated...

Every account I have read describes the LDM as being up high near the top of a mountain.

I just have to wonder though... With an average depth of 130'... How many places, when viewed from what is now the bottom of Canyon Lake would have been considered a " mountain " in the late 1800s and would now just be considered no more than a hill?

I guess anything is possible, but the location has always been described as very rough terrain. That would mean at least 2500 ft.

The only thing the SRP likely covered up were the Peralta Gold Placers at the mouth of LaBarge Canyon,
