Lost Dutchman Mine 1920

Post by armchair »

I saw a couple of articles (attached) from 1920 that were about finding the Lost Dutchman mine shaft near Fish Creek hill. It didn't say who the discoverers were. Does anyone have information on this episode?

AC,

A good bet would be George Miller and Dr. Robert A. Aiton. They were in the area at that time and had a working gold mine.

Good luck,

Thanks Joe,

From your info I read Jim Hatt's postings and Tom Kollenborn's article on this and it sure sounds like this. One thing that is different is that this mine drifts at the 100 foot level while Jim Hatt describes the drifts at 30 feet. I wonder if the Miller Mine went deeper and then was filled in from tunneling at the 30 foot level?

Jim Hatt said he later found the tunnel lower down but he doesn't describe exploring it. Has anyone looked at tunnel and the rock dump?
