Joe, The problem with clues is that there is far too many clues. The same thing with all the stories. When it comes right down to it, we all believe what we want to. Personally, I will continue to lean toward the maps that are known to come out of Mexico and they do not lead to the Pinto Creek area....

Maps
Joe,
Other than the directions on the map they are the same place.
Erwin Ruth may not have given all 3 maps to the individuals at the earlier
date that you mentioned.
In my opinion "all" 3 maps printed in The Killer Mountains do pertain to
the Superstitions in Arizona.

Map
Joe, Your statement about the maps seem to add to the confusion. As you said, Magill claimed all 3 maps pertain to the Superstitions. The newspaper articles refer to the map, 2 maps and a large assortment of maps. Did you ever find the original documentation and proof that you spoke of under the Blu...

Lazarus, You lost me when you went from Waltz's to the Hayden Ferry and then back to the mission at the airport. You don't need to be very clever when you deal with that kind of mind set. Be sure to let me know when you find something that shines in the sunlight besides chrome. I would like to see i...

Lazarus, My point is that a large portion of the Salt River Mountains on the 1875 map is now within the boundaries of the Superstition Wilderness Area. I agree with you that everything west and north of the Apache Trail are not. Ludwig G. Rosecrans (Doc ) wrote a pamplet called Spanish Gold and The ...

I never have seen a copy of the mining laws of 1872. The only thing I can think of off hand that would fit the time frame would be a legal land grant recognized by the United States government. Or perhaps an Indian reservation. Both more than likely the wrong answer to the question. What's the new i...
