weapon choices

Newjerseyman Are you planning a day hike or an extended back packing expedition? You will have to consider the weight of what you are caryying and the weight of the ammo. Much better to carry enough water. A side arm on your hip is much easier carried and probably will never be used. There are a lot...

I have read several times about a legal battle between Julia and Dick Holmes over the gold left by Waltz. Are there existing court records documenting this?

Aylor's Arch

Looking back through some old pictures of Aylor's Arch and was wondering about what appears to be mine tailings on the slope below the "arch". Comparing other natural arches all over Arizona and Utah that I have seen, created by wind and erosion, this hole doesn't really fit the pattern. (...

Seems like a lot of you have had or know people who have had close encounters with these bees. Like Jim I am also alergic to bee stings so it is a concern. I wonder if the Forest Service has any statistics on Killer bee attacks in the Superstitions?

Jan, I have enjoyed your posts, you bring a different perspective, and what apprears to be a solid research background to the forum. But, you need to take your own advise and get your marbles back in play. There is no way we are always going to aggree on every topic or even how it is presented. Many...

Whether Peralta maps or Waltz's sketches or maps of later hunters, if there was one mine only, the source may be common, but if there are several mines or caches, all the known maps may be accurate, for their particular area, or they may all be bogus regardless of their source.

Joe I think the Military Trail does play a part in the search, but deciding which trail is the problem. I am trying to plot the 3 Military trails from the 1867 map in Dr. Glover's book. The Captain is different also, but he is a Captain of another ship Olbers(2) that arrives in New Orleans on November 8, 1851. We also know that the Ship Olbers(1) that...

Gene, I think it all goes back to one thing, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. As long as there are people who truly believe that you can get something for nothing these types of advertisements will be around, and that’s as big a soap box as I am going to get on today. That was an interesting, if cryptic bit of information.
I would be interested in knowing where a copy of Borrego 13 might be obtained, I have been unable to find it. Although it is not LDM related I have also some interest in California mines. Thanks for your post.

Bulldog Mine

Over the years there seem to be a lot of people claiming to have found the Lost Dutchman Mine. I suppose that the only true test would be to match the ore samples, at least the claims that have ore samples. One theory that I have heard more than once is that the Bulldog Mine is very close to the des...
