Lost Dutchman Hunting
That's the beauty of Dutch Hunting. I can be right, you can be right, everyone on the Forum can be right on their interpretation of the LDM clues, maps, hunches, map codes, field markers, saguaro markings, etc. The hard fact remains however, until someone produces a hole in the ground with gold in i...

LDM Ore Types
Made an error in above post - I suspect that Waltz's placer gold came from the area around "IRON MOUNTAIN", not Red Mountain.

LDM Ore Type
late49, You posted the following item on 10/1/05 under the Forum Topic "Jake's Ore": "Thanks for the follow up information on the ore sample. Think those samples, assuming the information is correct, should give folks pause in thinking that Waltz was only on to one Peralta Mine. But t...

Chuck Kenworthy's Finds
Joe, Appreciate your inputs on Kenworhty - I think we were exposed to him way past his prime time in capablility. A couple of comments on your points: 1. The Padre Island find was valued at $3,000,000 by the State of Texas. The companies probably didn't get much from it - not having a permit and all...

Quest Corporation History Item
I was digging thru some of my research books yesterday and ran across an article that might be of interest to the Forum. Thomas Penfield in "A Gudie to Treasure in Texas (1972) writes on Page 49 the following: "In 1967 two well organized and serious treasure recovery companies, Plataro, Lt...

The Caves of The LDM
One note of clarification to my above post: The map that Sheridan has in his book showing the volcanic caldera in the Superst only covers the Northwest area of the mountains. I do whish I had a map that covered the remaining areas. Need to do some more hunting for it.

The Caves of The LDM
late49er, Will try to give some input on two of your comments: Deering's Clues: Here are some quotes from the Bark Notes (Thomas Probert version) with page numbers included: 1. "I left the burro, and started to follow it, and I believe I followed it six or seven miles, and came to the worst pla...

Multiple Mines In The Supers
Peter, I agree that the Spanish/Mexicans had mutiple mines in the Superstitions. Kenworthy wrote in his LDM booklet that the Gonzales family in Mexico told him there were 3 gold mines in the Supers - the Peralta owned mine which was first worked and a second mine of similar richness that was later f...

The Caves of the LDM
My first posting in this topic contained the "usual" LDM info on the Caves of the LDM. I would offer the following on the first two caves that match some of the research I have done: 1. Two Room Cave: From the Bark Notes and Sims Ely's book, I have come to believe that the two room house i...

I have relatives in Claremore, OK, and have visited there a number of times over the years. There is an excellent Will Rogers Museum in Claremore as he lived in the immediate area in his later years. Here is their web site if you ever get that way: http://www.willrogers.com/index3.html The museum wa...

Favorite Quote - Will Rogers
Will Rogers is the source of my favorite quote:
"Be glad that we don't get all the government that we pay for.
"
There is something to be thankful for in this one!

The Caves of the LDM
There are many LDM clues related to caves either on the trail to the mine or in the immediate mine area. My best deciphering of all these "cave" clues is that there are three caves associated with the LDM as follows with a few of the references noted although there are many others: 1. A tw...

The Feds may be implanting microchips in Crested Crown Sauguro's with location data in them so that they can identify where they were taken. You can do the same thing with your dog and cat and farm animals are commonly tracked with this method. It is is impossible for satellites to track a stand alo...

Zane Grey's Cabin in Arizona
The cabin that Zane Grey owned that was North of Payson, AZ, just below the Rim was burned down in a large fire about 7 yrs ago. Think the fire was named the "Dude" fire (could be wrong). A conservation group was trying to rebuild it a few years ago - don't think it has been done yet. Here...

Submerged Cave of Gold in Superstitions
The following typed letter was sent to the Phoenix Library on May 28, 1961, by Roy Wykoff, Jr. (spelling errors included). In it he claims to have been in a cave in the Tortilla Flats area in 1933 that contained a considerable amount of gold treasure. This location is now under Canyon Lake. It reads...
