Re: The Trail of Jacob Waltz’s Gold Ore
Garry, When I dug through Greg Davis' collections for several days after this year's Rendezvous, I saw several 8"x10" photo's of the "match safe box" that is being discussed. I believe some were black and white and at least one was color with very good detail on the box. The phot...

Re: The Trail of Jacob Waltz’s Gold Ore
Gang, Let's not forget the gold ore ring that Bob Corbin showed us at the Rendezvous and a photo of it is in the thread "2009 Rendezvous". My understanding is that the ring ore came from under Jake Waltz's bed. I spent time digging in Greg's collections after the Rendezvous this year and f...

Re: 2009 rendezvous
Finally got back from Phoenix and my junk unpacked and a few pressing chores done. I would also give a big THANKS to Wayne, Randy, and Greg for again making all the arrangements for the Rendezvous and getting speakers lined up for Friday and Saturday night. The Dons Camp is a great place to hold the...

Re: My Willow Springs/Ruth article
Randy, Glad you were able to save your article on Adolph Ruth!! Thanks for posting it on the Forum and making it available to us again. I reread it and it's a great read - especially the sections about where and how Ruth died. Think this part of the legend has steered a lot of people to the wrong ar...

Lost Dutchman Mines Website
The LostDutchmanMines.com website died for one reason only - costs. Joe R. posted earlier that he had seen that the Domain Name for the site was up for sale. Seems to verify why it died and that it won't be coming back. The site had no advertising to offset its costs as done by all the other LDM rel...

Stone Crosses Photo's
If you go to the bottom of Jim Hatt's web page that Joe Ribaudo gave a link to above, you will find a photo of the Stone Crosses. Jim Hatt published a small booklet titled "The Peralta Stone Maps, The Stone Crosses & The Latin Heart" in 2005. He has a photo of the Stone Crosses on page...

Jim Hatt's Info On Mike Bilbry
Jim Hatt has a Forum section on the Lost Dutchman on the DesertUSA web site at: http://www.desertusa.com/mb3/ Jim has a thread in his section that covers Mike Bilbry which has a larger overview on him than what I posted. For those interested, here's the link: http://www.desertusa.com/mb3/viewtopic.p...

Mike Bilbry's Stone Crosses
The following is my total involvement with Mike Bilbry’s Stone Crosses in the time period of 1996 to 1999: In my early LDM research prior to learning of the Greg Davis’s vast collection, I did what I could to collect info and maps. One of the sources I used to get map copies was to have the curator ...

Jake's Guilt Trip
“There was an old prospector by the name of "Old Germany", who would drop in and see Jake, and Jack would say, “Tell him to go out; I don’t want him here”. I think Waltz was turning "Old Germany" from his deathbed because he was a fellow German countryman who reminded him strong...

The REAL Fate of Jacob Wieser = ????????
I have been going back over my 15yrs of collected LDM clues as I put them into an improved spreadsheet format. One item that has struck me from reading all these clues in a short time regards the death of Jacob Wieser and Jacob Waltz’s involvement in it. The most commonly accepted version of Wieser’...

Suggestion for Locating "Skip"
Dave, Suggest you call Ron Feldman at OK Corral and see if he knows of the of any info on "Skip". He's about as knowledgeable as anyone on the old timers around the Supers. His number is 480-982-4040. Another possibility is Bob Schoose at Goldfield Ghost Town. Goldfield's number is 480-983...

Lee Kessler's Maps
Zentull, Did you find all 18 of Kessler's maps in Greg Davis' collection or just the 3 that were in the Robert Lee collection? I only saw the three. Made a series of 8.5x11 inch copies of sections of each and then taped them together to make a single copy of each map. The markings Kessler made on th...

Lee Kessler's Maps
I first read about Lee H. Kessler's maps in Robert E. Lee's book "The Lost Dutchman Mine" (mid 70's) in 1992. He said that Kessler called him on 3/3/62 and agreed to send Robert 3 maps with no conditions attached and Robert received the maps on 3/14/62. He said that Kessler was an old Germ...

Correction to Posting on John Reed and Waltz
I made a typo in the above posting which originally reads: "John claims that his Father ran Waltz off the mine twice - both times being in 1888." Meant to say: "John claims that his Father ran Waltz off the mine twice - both times being in or after 1888." Sorry about that. Roger

John Reed = His Father Ran Waltz From the LDM??
There is a document from Oct 2, 1932, prepared by Sims Ely that summarizes his conservation with John Reed during a meeting they had at the St. Louis train station. The footnotes were done by John Reed. I have posted the 3 pages of this letter in the Roger's Album of the photo section of the Forum. ...

Jesuit Treasure in Nueva Espana
The topic of Jesuit treasure in New Spain has been worked over to some degree on the forum, but I was reading back through Eugene Conrotto's book, Lost Gold and Silver Mines of the Southwest, and found a reference on Jesuit treasure written by Charles W. Polzer in the August, 1962, issue of Desert M...

LDM History Documents
Novice,
The site worked fine for me. Had to use Adobe Acrobat 5.0 to open the files, but worked with no problem.
Thanks a lot for putting these documents up for all to use. Without this, most of us would never be able to read these documents from key players in the LDM history.

Did Waltz Bury the LDM????
I have been researching the LDM for about 15 yrs and have found several versions on how Waltz covered his mine. The Dick Holmes story from Waltz's deathbed describing Waltz's mine being in the bottom of a canyon with vertical shaft and about him covering the LDM in the manner Dick described does not...

Joe,
Would you agree with my point that $7000 in gold doesn't amount to a big load to get out of the Superstitions?

Old Phoenix Street Names
Here's a link to an 1885 Birdseye Map of Phoenix that has all the names of that time period shown. Phoenix had a population of 3500 at that time and Jacob Waltz was still living then. From a brief examination, I think Waltz's 1/4 section is at the SE corner of Harrison St and Maricopa St. The map sh...
