Re: The Maps of Adolph Ruth

Research on the profile map isn't easy since Erwin seemed to hand this map out on more than one occasion. We do know Magill popularized the map in The Killer Mountains, but Fred Guirey obtained the same copy from Erwin in 1946. While there are occasional slight changes in the map but it is generally...

The Maps of Adolph Ruth

While I could not piece together Randys article from a few years back, I did my research on what I remembered and with a few conversations with Randy pulled it together best I can until he can find his notes. The gist of the original piece was to look at the available maps that supposedly came from ...

Re: Crazy Jake

Thanks for the answer. The post threw me off it had been so long and I figure it was likely Lester Miller......Maybe. I knew a few people that probably associated with your Dad when he was living around the Metro center area. I had always wondered who the guy they met was and kind of wondered if it ...

Re: What REALLY happened to Adolph Ruth?

By the way I was pretty sure that we had the documentation that both Keenan and Purnell worked for Cal Morse and Erwin did stay there initially during the search. Though there are disputed facts concerning the longer version of that story, There is documentation of the above.

Re: What REALLY happened to Adolph Ruth?

A few years back Randy did an excellent article concerning the profile maps history on Peters forum. I will stop by Gregs and get a copy to post because it was too good to not be archived here. The issue was with the history of that map and I think it showed without a doubt that the map copy that Er...

Re: What REALLY happened to Adolph Ruth?

Both have gone through the ringer and Dan Jones I believe had no jurisdiction and was looking into this for Erwin. There was a thread where it was discussed that he or perhaps his children might have had his files. Might of been discussed elsewhere, but this was Pinal county and while Maricopa might...

Want to mention now that things slowed down it was nice touchng base with a number of folks recently. I missed those bits of Dutch hunting talk. With another season of baseball done and the workload lightened, it will be nice to catch up on things through the summer. Will be making some trips up to ...

Re: Helen Corbin's Olbers Manifest

Grijalva needs a new suit before he should be allowed in public again.

Randy breaks hip while finding the mine. Randy breaks ankle leaving mine. Randy breaks arm leading group to the mine.

In other words Randy will use the gold to pay his medical bills in the end.

Re: What REALLY happened to Adolph Ruth?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the treasure map no one has ever seen........yeah that could convince me otherwise!!!! I do believe there were folks that have seen and may have copies of various reports, but the Ruth tale needs preservation I suppose. What about the folks who were murdered and found miss...

Re: What REALLY happened to Adolph Ruth?

Oh yeah the court case that I have never seen documents of and a skull that was shipped off without being returned to the proper authorities( though it was national news and he was supposedly shot), add in that pieces of that skull, including the dentures and lower mandible were among the bones foun...

Re: What REALLY happened to Adolph Ruth?

I do have a bit of an interesting question concerning this...........how many of you have physically stood in the skull and remains sites? The first time I stood just above the area where Ruth died (allegedly) I thought he was working his way down Black Top fell down, cracked his head and died. You ...

Re: The Skull

Was enjoying my first day off in quite some time and decided to peek in and get caught up on the forum. This story like much of the Holmes story varies depending on the time frame more than the source. From 1900 on there are various accounts from Dick Holmes, Brownie, Ida and others that mention eit...

Mike,

Bob Garman said that Robert told him the same thing about the zeros and other markings. I don't know if Garman was Pecks source or others knew as well.

Adolph Ruth revisited

Greg and I had a discussion on the remains of the 3 men from Utah and both agreed that there was something significant that needed to be shared. The remains of the 3 men were uncannily in the same condition as Ruths and even the 2 bodies were found on an exposed slope. There is a slight difference i...

Re: Purnell Mine Claim???

Mike, One worked the areas north and the other south. I think Purnell was interested in the areas south. I will check my files, but I know one had some claims. I also remember John Spangler mentioning something about the two showing up in Needle canyon after a year or so passed from finding Ruth. I ...

Pip, The firefall was a thing of wonder to me as a young boy. Probably would not be near as cool now as it was then. Of course I had no idea it was going to happen and that can only have that effect one time. I always wonder if Greg was one of our guides early on.....strange how those things play ou...
