Greg, Thanks for the information, of course who ever was at the ranch at the time would have been considered a suspect. We are all just going by names that were mentioned as to being at the ranch at the time Ruth was there. Do you have any information as to why Purnell and Keenan were involved in so...

Bill, I had allways thought that who ever was at Tex's ranch at the time Ruth was there are prime suspects. What was brownie holmes movement after he ( Ruth ) was taken in. I cant help but think that Purnell and Keenan went driving around in Ruth's car to be purposely seen. I do not think they had a...

Bill, Why yes indeed it would in interesting reading about what you just described. I think it would also be neat to see if any of these people filed claims after his death and where. I have read a lot about maps Ruth had, has anyone ever postivily been able to determine which one Ruth supposedly ha...

Ded, Thanks for the advice and the response, I dont entirely believe everything that I read in the newspapers, remember they are in the business to sell them. As I recall I believe that I read other Doctors as well looked at the skull and determined to that it was a gun shot wound. It would appear o...

S.C. Thanks for the response.....Ok, I can see that about the cattle, makes sense. So, Tex found the body of Ruth, did he say that he had been murdered? And did Tex have an idea as to who did it.? I assume that his head was still attatched and that happened afterwards? Wasn’t Tex the one that actual...

Bill, You raise some interesting questions that should have been asked, I doubt they were. It would be interesting to know what claims either one of them filed after ruths death, for that matter Tex Barckley as well. Lets say Purnell and Keenan were involved, could they have pulled it off by themsel...

DED, Bill I was going on the information about Dr. Hrdlicka from books about the lost Dutchman, and they all say the same thing about him. He was considered top in his field, just because he was arrogant I don’t think can take away his knowledge of his profession. I work with many Doctors who are ex...

Bill, There is a lot of this Ruth mystery that doesn’t sound right, like why they did not believe the famed Dr. Hrdlicka’s findings about Ruth’s skull. Especially the part about him saying “ The condition of the skull indicated that death occurred not more than a few months ago “. And his findings a...

Joe, I was getting my information about Ruth’s missing silver plate from Barry Storms book, he says “ and when the posse headed by such experienced mountain men as Tex Barkley and Jeff Adams finally ferreted out the remains, they saw at once that the detached head was not the work of wild animals, n...

Wiz, The Adolph Ruth mystery is indeed a mystery within itself; yes one of them could have had a dummy map used for such purposes. Bill, I had not taken into consideration the price of silver back then, assuming it was silver. It could have been just plain old stainless steel; I had not read that th...

S.C. Thanks for the response; it makes no sense on Ruth’s part to give either one of these two guy’s a copy of the map. He could just as well said “ lead me in there and I will give you a taste of the mine “. I wonder if in the investigation his wife or son let it be known that they had a copy of th...

Purnell and Keenan….what ever happened to them?
Ruths involvement in the search for the lost Dutchman is one of intrigue, he claims to have a map from Manuel Gonzales. He show’s up at Tex Barcleys place wanting someone to take him into the Superstitions so he can find what the map eludes too. He doesn’t want to wait on Tex anymore so he has these...

Wyatt William Westwood..aka Bill Riley
Wyatt “ William “ Westwood…aka “ Bill “ Riley of Tucson….. Very few people here know my name, not that it is some secret or anything. Joe, You are missing the point badly about Spanish Units of Measurement! You are too busy trying to find fault in what is written and what I am posting that you are not grasping what is in the book.
