Re: Chichilticale

Hi Somehiker and Klondike, It is agreed that the local Apaches did the mining. From what I've read, the Aztecs were a strange and perverse society, not only their leaders, but the common citizens as well. Their economy was built on bartering, they had no metal money, and they prized gold for it's be...

Re: Chichilticale

Hello Klondike, Thank you for your interest and the kind words. There is little doubt (with me anyway) that Niza knew exactly where he was going before he left Mexico City. As soon as he was shed of Esteban, he got down to business. He found the ancient trail north of the Gila, the mines probably mo...

Re: Chichilticale

Dovetailing with the Chichilticale story is the Manuel Alejandro Peralta map from 1753. Using the same map style of the Peralta-Fish and the Peralta Stone Maps, the map brings the outlier features in close to the central focus area of the map. A copy of the map with someone’s English translation is ...

Chichilticale

Even though the discovery of the location of the Peralta mines is very significant, there is a much bigger mystery: After Spain looted most of the Aztec and Inca gold between 1520 and 1533, it was noted that the Aztec items were found to have a very high purity and were exceptionally beautiful. Some...

Re: The Holy Grail

Hi Mike,

My knowledge of the map is only what Dr. Glover wrote in his books; it seems like you know more. Do you know where the original, original resides?

Re: The Holy Grail

Hi Joe, Please check out the Linda Peralta map on either Dr. Glover’s “The Lost Dutchman Mine of Jacob Waltz” on page 325 or “Treasure Tales of the Superstitions” page 310; here you will find the Linda Peralta version with the original signatures. Yours does not have the original signatures and woul...

Re: The Holy Grail

Hi Joe, That is a good one, but by all appearances it is a copy of the Linda Peralta version. Linda's has 5 different signatures by 5 different people, and your version has 4 of the signatures, and they all appear to be signed by the same person. The Kollenborn version still stands the tallest, in m...

The Holy Grail

Except for Joe, no one is responding to these posts, but a there seems to be a core of people reading……. Hopefully, this post will generate some comments……. The arguable “Holy Grail” of maps for Lost Dutchman or Peralta Mines searchers is the “Peralta-Fish” map. A photo of one version of this map is...

Re: Cerro Negra

Several references are made to a “speckled” hill or a speckled area on the maps out there. My offering is it is because of this rock here: http://mollymarieprospect.com/CerroNegra/gossanousbreccia.jpg This is vuggy silica with clasts of gossan from sulphide ore and this outcrops in many places in th...

Re: Cerro Negra

It was never my intention to get involved with a search for lost mines……….. I just kind of fell into it. All I originally wanted to do was to stake a mining claim just to say I did. The evidence to support the existence and location of the Peralta mines kept building, and somewhere along the way it ...

Re: Cerro Negra

Let’s not forget the most important map of all that shows the location of Cerro Negra, the Peralta Stone map. The one symbol on this map that was most perplexing until now, was the “D” shaped symbol that surrounds the 2 parallel lines. It is known now that this symbol is the profile of the Cerro Neg...

Re: Cerro Negra

Some more info about Cerro Negra, the Black Hill…….. the great bulge in the basalt! After a long hot summer, and intermittent outings, I’ve arrived at the conclusion that this hill was definitely the centerpiece of the Peralta mining operations. Here is another view of Cerro Negro looking east: http...

Re: Cerro Negra

Hello Joe, The photo below was taken from a different angle, and if you zoom in on the feature in question, it can be seen that it is a ledge rather than a track or rut. If you have any different ideas about how these "grooves" could have been formed in the rock other than by cart wheels, ...

Re: Cerro Negra

Hello Joe, My guess is that these ruts were made over a period of approximately 150 years. There were probably dozens of different people directly in charge of haulage operations during that time, and between them they had many different methods to negotiate the single steep hill they had to contend...

Re: Cerro Negra

Hello Joe, Your analysis is well taken, and am glad you took the time to research, but the comparison of Oregon Trail ruts to these is not a reasonable assumption. The wagons and carts on the Oregon trail were going one-way; they were never coming back. The wagon trails made by settlers were not mai...

Hello Joe, I don’t know about the ruts you are referring to on the East Side, but below is a link to the ruts I’m talking about on the West Side and on the now-gated road to the First Water Ranch awning. Re: Cerro Negra

Hello Joe, I'm glad you picked that story as it dovetails well with mine. My favorite is not a story, but is the cart ruts. They tell a story of their own; more than a century, or more likely, a century and-a-half of broken muck was hauled over the same spot. It is hard to believe that the Peraltas ...

Cerro Negra

There is a central theme of “Negra” on many of the most popular lost mine maps that are circulating, including the Hoddenplye, Peralta-Fish, Mina Del Oro, and Walter Perrine (John Combs) maps. It is generally understood that the Negra is basalt. In the Molly Marie caldera, the tallest hill in the ba...

Re: Hidden in Plain Sight

Joe, I’ve read some of Michael Sheridan’s work, and he hypothesized that the reason the Goldfield ore was so rich was because the Whitetail formation contained placer gold that was dissolved and redeposited as bonanza veins. He was right, and he had not even heard of the concept of Lake Higley brine...

Re: Hidden in Plain Sight

Hello Joe, I tried my best, and hopefully it gets the point across about just how important this is. The more I learn, the more flabbergasted I am that the virgin Goldfield Caldera with the conditions described could exist right out in the open, and you can drive over most of it. I have nothing in t...

Hidden in Plain Sight

After reading Dr. Glover’s new book, my hunch that most of the “lost gold” is still in the ground was reinforced. How can a large quantity of gold possibly remain? In a previous post it was shown that there are at least 4 collapse calderas in the Goldfield Mining District, each marking the extents o...

Hello Joe,

The major flags are yellow, bright green, white, and brown-black. There are 2 yarn strings that are draped over and one is white and one is red. i do not know what the strings mean, but they may be key.

Re: NEW BOOK....

Hello Joe, The book is excellent. I'll have to read some chapters again due to rushing to get to the next. There are so many things in this book that I did not know about. Dr. Glover’s style reminds me of Alan Eckert and his “Frontiersman” series of novels. Many of my questions were answered. I’m st...
