Re: The Legend of the Superstition Mountains

thanks jim....heres a question...any idea from who or where the story came from that Ruth's skull was POSITIVELY identifid by Ruth's Dentist? If it came from Ely then that practically renders the rest of his(Ely's) story worthless when added to his Doc Thorne supporting evidence of the existence of ...

Re: The Legend of the Superstition Mountains

Makes one wonder why someone with those qualifications couldnt give a DEFINITIVE answer as to whether they were bullet holes. makes one wonder how he could miscalculate the skeletons/skulls age . as i understand it Erwin Ruth gave the skull to hrdlicka to examine in a private agreement. Erwin Ruth w...

Re: The Legend of the Superstition Mountains

Hrdlicka was an archivist, not an expert in gunshot wounds. his opinions on the holes in ruths skull was worth little more than the average asshole on the streets opinion would be.one wonders why the skull wasnt sent to the appropriate people to form an opinion on the holes? i could suggest a reason ...

Re: Helen Corbin's Olbers Manifest

I gave up on Helen Corbin and anything she wrote when, if my memory serves me correctly ,she wrote on page 178 (i think) (and im paraphrasing here) "Indians never lied"...There were several other questionable statements she made ,but that one did it for me ,I believe it ended up in a local charity s...

Re: Casa Caverna

Cuzzin Jack, I cant argue about what you have written. The reason being I know very little ,if anything at all, about Geology and rocks and so on and so forth. But as far as I can see ,if your conjectures and those of other geologists are correct,it would "only" show that gold of "this or that" type ...

Thanks for giving your view on the issue, and while much of what you have written is true, there is also a lot, that because of the passage of time ,we have no way of knowing how much of it is true -half true ,or invented. (quote) Well you are certainly welcome to your own opinion(s), and I must respe...

Hi Oroblanco...my reasoning? The "bailing out" of julia thomas is hearsay as far as i am aware ,unless im wrong and there are hard facts to support that theory....I dont include campfire tales etc in any definition of hard facts. The 48 pounds of gold ore Id say fits into the same category.....the go...

Maps,Waybills, horses heads with left ear cocked, cryptic clues, houses in caves, north trending canyons, holes in rocks pointing to the mine, tricks in the trail, stone maps.....sigh .surely logic tells us that if these "signs"and clues meant anything ,then the mines(mines) would have been found a lifet...

Re: The Legend of the Superstition Mountains

Hello Potbelly Jim, I believe that more than likely, that Ruth's death was classed as murder to buttress the "mysterious deaths and beheadings" aspect of the legend by those who gained materially from that ...I.e Barry Storm, and many others, and again, more than likely, the story took on a life of its...

Re: The Legend of the Superstition Mountains

Really cant understand why everyone is so convinced that Ruth was murdered. Theres been at least 2-3 articles Ive read that put forward a ereasonable viewpoint that Ruth was a victim of death by natural causes. Ok maybe i in a minority of 1 here in that view, but still dont believe ,at the very least...

my opinion is,for what its worth is that the reason was because a small clique tried to dominate the site.If i recall correctly there were barely veiled threats of violence aimed at 1 member. It got a tad nasty .
