Mr Joe My Lost Dutchman Education comes from the following sources: The Bicknell article was quoted in some lost treasure magazine I read years ago. I went to the U of W Oshkosh and the librarian got me a copy of the article from the U of C Berkeley's Bancroft Library through the "interlibrary ...

Mr TGH I don't know what I've done to piss you off or who you think I am. I was just trying to discuss some topics related to the Lost Dutchman Mine and add a little humor. Since my posts seem to anger a long time member to the extent that he feels the need to tell me that "hell most of us knew...

Mr Joe Thank you for the information. Could I ask you a couple of questions before this is "put to bed"? Then I promise you I will speak of it no more. You mention the Sims Ely book and the Bark Notes. I assume that the Sims Ely book is The Lost Dutchman Mine . I've heard of it but I've ne...

Chief, Don't believe I "discount Bicknell's version." Mr. Joe That's interesting. While it is true that you said nothing about Bicknell's version, the text of the treaty that you posted seems quite explicit about Mexicans being able to retain any claims they had on the land prior to the s...

Mr zentull,

Sounds like your parents lived a real life version of Hitchcock's "Topaz." What a great movie. I haven't thought about that flick in years. Now I have to go out and try to rent it somewhere.

P.S. Watch out for seagulls that carry away your sandwich!!!

Remedial Geography Lesson

I'm a greenhorn in need of a serious LDM geography lesson. I'm hoping someone will take pity on an old Menominee and help me out. As I am totally green, I will ask these questions in separate posts so as not to confuse my simple mind... I've never been in the Superstitions but I have the big four to...

Mr. Joe, Wow you really know your history. Thanks for the info. The text of the treaty flies in the face of some of the Dutchman stories I've read. No wonder you discount Bicknell's version. My uninformed opinion has always been that Bicknell's version is the oldest, so it must be the closest to the...

Finally finished killing Uncle Jack. I got that bottle for Christmas and thought I'd never finish it. I'm getting too old to drink that stuff... I had no idea that some of the Mexicans stayed and others were invited back. I thought all of them were basically evicted after they lost the war. As you c...

That's what I mean. If the area is sacred why let him in in the first place? Seems Like they didn't know it might be sacred until after they saw Ramses findings. So if that is the Lost Dutchman the Salt River Indians must have lost the location to it somewhere along the way.

Are you from Wisconsin? Guilty as charged. Speaking to you from my humble shack on the shores of Lake Winnebago. Or as it is more commonly known this time of year Lake Winneseptic. Ice shoves, lake flies and stinking algae, it's a lovely spot. If the walleye fishing wasn't so good I would have head...

I have seen John Ramses' website. I think he presents a good case. I saw a post in your archives section, someone else had posted about him, but seemed a bit dubious as Mr. Ramses had posted photographs of "spirits" on his website (he does state that it's due most likely to natural causes...

Bicknell's article says: "The district designated is not extensive. It lies within an imaginary circle whose diameter is not more than five miles and whose center is marked by the Weaver's Needle, a prominent and fantastic pinnacle of volcanic tufa that rises to a height of 2500 feet among a co...
