Re: The Legend of the Superstition Mountains
Because the weather is perfect for hunting and there is still plenty of water. Put the fear into the greenhorns to keep them out of the mountains so the real LDM hunters can do their thing without tripping over the amateurs

Rename This Forum
Ah, I've been lurking for a long while now. Still check for interesting LDM info. Checked out this forum. This forum should be renamed: The Joe Ribaudo, lazarus and pippinwhitepaws Forum. Each one of you are so self rightous, try to appear that you each are so learned in politics. Just a bunch of ...

<<You have not posted in a long, long time. It's a shame you choose this petty bickering as the only thing important enough to comment on. I will try not to get in your way here, and look forward to your posting on something important. Respectfully, Joe Ribaudo>> Evidently, you have to have the last ...

Whoever is watching over these forums, can you create another one just for Joe and TGH? Would be more informative and interesting to read posts about the subject at hand instead of these two going at each other. I don't know about anyone else but my initial impression of these guys was that they ...

Walter Gassler/Peter's Canyon
Has anyone read the notes written by Walter Gassler? I purchased a copy of them several years ago from the SMHS. I hiked into Peter's Canyon from the North (started at Tortilla Flat) and saw the large boulders as big as a house and the area Gassler notes as "hundreds of potholes". Just a ways past ...

What Became Of Kochera's Found Gold?
If this story is true, what became of this found ore? Has anyone who knew Kochera actually seen it? If so, were they able to photograph it? I read in one of the posts about comparing it to Jacob's gold. Has anyone done this and what were the results? (This would also mean that in order to perform ...

Record Exists For $7000 Gold Transaction
Somewhere in Tom Glovers book he mentions a record with Waltzs transactions but it was a much smaller amount if I remember, only a couple thousand dollars or so. Most of these stories are tall tales used by authors to sell their books.
In Helen Corbin's new book (The Bible ...

Helen's "Bible" Basically A Newer Edition of The &
I just finished reading Helen's new book "The Bible of Jacob Waltz and LDM"...(sic). Pretty much the same info as her first book on the LDM. This book did add a few bits of new info but nothing any more useful than what was presented in the Curse. A lot of the new info she included I felt wasn't ...

After reading some of these posts, I get the distinct impression that nobody puts any credence in any of the books on the subject of the LDM. If it were not for the various books on the subject, I would not be able to comment, make guesses, etc., with out the information that was presented in these ...

John Ramses' Book "Quest For Peralta Gold"
From what I've read in the past on Adolph Ruth, the articles/stories included a map. This map was commonly called the "Ruth Map". I read John Ramses' book "Quest For Peralta Gold"and I myself was pretty confinced that he had found the mines as they related to Ruth's map. He has photographs and ...

Each time I went into Peters Canyon, I went in from Tortilla Creek. The boulders there are huge! I managed to find a faint trail through the brush but it was still rough going. Has anyone in this forum gone past the large cave? I read somewhere that the sides of the canyon rise a thousand feet or ...

Ron's Excavation
After reading some of these posts, was wondering how Ron's excavation is going (went). After reading Helen Corbin's first book and reading Walter Gassler's notes that I got from the SMHS, I had "guessed" that "if" a mine existed, it would be around Peter's Mesa. I hiked into Peter's Canyon several ...
