Re: Rendezvous
Just made reservations for a motorhome and will be coming to this years Rendezvous. My Son In Law, Scott, will be coming with me. Carolyn will not be coming. Hope to set up in my usual spot. If someone can bring the shade I donated to the event, we can attach it to the motorhome's canopy. If there i...

Jim,
For sure you are right about Bob. I didn't meet him until after Helen passed away, but I respected Her work. A number of people wanted to throw rocks at her because of that last book, but she was better than that last publication.
Take care,
Joe

Re: Massacure
Don, Hope all is well with you and your family. Helen was growing ill and was being pressured by her publisher to get the book done quickly. Like Thomas, she had total trust in her source, come to think of it, I did as well. Bob did not find out the truth about the source until after Helen's death. ...

Re: OKAY, I think I figured this thing out.
I can't remember the first time I posted here, but I haven't seen anything come back, well one, but it was formal with no response required. So, are the people that post here, or used to post here, all passed on? Were they those old guys I used to see sitting under the awnings of their fifth wheels...

Ben,
One picture of the stone monuments would sell me on your entire story......just one. That does not prove anything, except that you were actually there. I really wish I had taken my camera with us that day.
Take care,
Joe Ribaudo

Re: Michael Bilbrey
Joe, I am trying to find the Greg Davis’s story about Bilbrey trying to sell the Latin Crosses. I believe it was on one of the forums but I spent a couple of hours trying to run it down and came up empty. (From Memory) Greg met with Estee Conatser, Bilbrey and possibly Ed Farr and he was trying to ...

Sorry, as usual, did not follow through on my thoughts....bottom line: I agree that Helen C. was the one that originally wrote about the Black Forest connection (and it sounds like she was just using it as a descriptive tool in her writing, to describe where Oberschwandorf was physically located).....

Jim,
Can't find anything you have written that I disagree with. For his time, Hrdlicka was the top dog.......as far as I have been able to tell. In that respect he had plenty of detractors as well. Pretty normal for people in his field. Everyone thought they were better.
Take care,
Joe

Re: The Legend of the Superstition Mountains
Joe, Yes id forgotten the discussion from way back. but the facts/non facts/questionable facts remain the same ,as you say "the next turn of the shovel" or "wiggle room" etc really proves the point...if hrdlicka himself couldnt be 100% sure ,then theres no way the rest of us can...

Re: The Legend of the Superstition Mountains
Damn those pesky details! :) Rereading the passage; “skulls with bullet holes found on battlefields”, I suddenly realized. I have been entertaining a. bad assumption from the beginning. I had always assumed that Dr. Hrdlicka was serving in some capacity during World War I and was physically present...

Re: The Legend of the Superstition Mountains
Jim,
A number of years ago I contacted the Smithsonian, as they have Hldlicka's notes. I have that information somewhere, but suggest you contact them and get copies of what you want. I don't know if I have the energy to look them up.
Good luck,
Joe

Guys,
I have mentioned before that the silver plate was not found. That story later changed, and I believe Brownie and Bill Barkley may have been involved in some way.
Good luck,
Joe

Jack,
Only one question.......Did Sim's Ely mention this as the place Ruth's body was found? Might have just been a mistake by Ely, but it's curious.
Take care,
Joe

Jim, I was told by Gene Reynolds that this was the view that Ruth was looking for. He was in the hunt fairly early after Ruth's murder. Not sure where he got this information. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj268/cactus_jumper/DelMonteClaim.jpg Just a coincidence that there is a claim at that sp...

Hi Joe, From what Garry said in his last post, I took that to mean he was done talking about the Jones letters until his site was back up and people could get a clearer picture of everything in context. Not sure. As far as the PD, here is what I’ve found out so far from a friend: 1. The files proba...
