Re: Rendezvous

Very interesting, Thank you Thomas. I don't peek in as much as I should. Everything is always perceived as having layers like an onion. I have always believed the Lost Dutchman stories and lore are more like a piece of furniture that has been modified, sanded and painted so many times that no one ...

Barry Storm "Thunder Gods Gold" first edition with the notes of authenticity. While Storm lost all his material later he quotes Rhinehart here. In fact I believe Storm used Rhinehart as a source until his suicide and then turned to Herman. It is one of the few direct quotes we have from Rhinehart ...

Re: Question from new member

The Dick Holmes story? Hmmmmmm. Which version by Dick Holmes are we referencing? Where he was alone? Or with Ida? Or with a number of others depending on the varying accounts some of which were by Dick Holmes himself. Was it at Julias house or the Bakery. Holmes claimed both in his versions. This is ...

Re: TENTH ANNUAL DUCH HUNTER'S RENDEZVOUS

Greetings everyone,

As everyone is aware this year is the tenth anniversary of the Dutch Hunter Rendezvous. It seems appropriate that we will be gathering on the 24th, 25th and 26th of October this fall. We will gather on the Eve of Waltz's death and break camp on the day of his burial according ...

Re: Yellow Jackets

I know of three stone circles, one is on La Barge mountain or Black mountain whichever you prefer. It is rather small. Not entirely sure of its purpose. Southwest side if I remember correctly. The other two are respectively on each of the Black Cross butte areas. One seems more modern in origin, the ...

Will be a little cool in the mornings, but the afternoon can't be beat. It can get into the teens early in the morning back in the mountains, so dress appropriate.

It is one and the same. There are some pictures of it from a news article about linesba's work on his claims. It was by the Peralta trailhead. I believe he added to an existing structure there.

Pets are allowed in camp. Horses kept in upper camp/parking lot. We do ask no pets during the saturday evening event at the ramada. Both boys are coming out this year. They have early release, so I should be in earlier than usual.

Jake isn't doing too well, he is lame on one of his back legs, so ...

Re: Ground covered in a day?

The problem is you could spend a day or days, just scouring a single ravine. Some areas could be foot by foot and there are areas that would require ropes and a lot of cliffing out and back tracking. Just taking the trails you can cover a lot of ground in a day or even hours, but if you go off trail ...

Re: The Lost Dutchman Mine: Does it exist?

Armchair made an interesting point a few pages back concerning the LDM being in the 4 peaks area, which was part of Gottfrieds searches. I ran into a gentleman sometime back and have pictures of ore he had hidden away in the back of his property that he bought from an assayer that came from the LDM ...

I received an email as well concerning Jim's passing. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. I regret never taking him up on the several offers to go hiking. I enjoyed my discussions with him and also regret I never got him hooked up with Bilbrey.

Re: 2011 Rendezvous

After thinking about it all day, The scheduled hike may change to Whitlows corral, Reeds water and Abe Reids old claims. This is a much easier hike and the added plus is we pass through the Quarter Circle U and the soldiers grave is only minutes away as well. The only real challenge would be the ...

Fascinating and not what I expected. I would like to relate that I had contact with individual who told me that a certain Dutch Hunting story was fake. I was surprised at how quickly it came up and was hoping for more of a story than what I got.

In the end the folks who were suspicious of the ...
